Western Digital has rolled out the My Passport external HDD series for Mac. The device connects to your Mac via a USB 2.0 interface. The WD My Passport for Mac supports the Time Machine backup, a password protection for your important data, and a hardware encryption. LaCie today announced that the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt series is currently available via Apple Store. What makes this storage device special is that it adopts the Thunderbolt technology that supports up to 10Gb/s speeds. Designed by Neil Poulton, the LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt series delivers transfer rates of up to 480MB/s for SSD models and up to 190MB/s for 5400rpm hard disk models. You can also connect multiple Little Big Disks together to increase overall transfer rates of up to 782MB/s. The 1TB model retails for $399.95, while the 2TB model is priced at $499.95. Hitachi G-RAID External HDD For Mac

The Hitachi G-RAID external hard disk drive is designed specifically for Mac users. Available in storage capacities up to 6TB, the G-RAID supports high-speed interfaces such as 3Gbit eSATA, FireWire 800 (FireWire 400 via cable) and USB 2.0 ports. When connected via eSATA, this storage device provides data transfers rates of up to 200MB/second. The 4TB and 6TB models are not supported by Windows XP or older 32-bit operating systems which limit maximum volume size to 2TB. The 4TB and 6TB models are compatible with systems running Mac OS X, Windows Vista or other 64-bit operating systems. The Hitachi G-RAID External HDD for Mac is priced at £182($290) upwards. Toshiba is ready to release the STOR.E PARTNER portable HDD series in the European market. The device supports the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology and offers up to 1TB of storage space. The Toshiba STOR.E PARTNER comes bundled with the Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials software that allows you to automate and schedule backups, restore lost, damaged or deleted data. Seagate today introduced the GoFlex Turbo External USB 3.0 HDD with SafetyNet data recovery services (DRS). SafetyNet data recovery is the first recovery service offering by a hard drive manufacturer to be included as part of the purchase price of an external drive. With the latest super speed USB 3.0 interface and RPMs clocked at 7200, the GoFlex Turbo drive is equipped to handle transfer speeds up to 40% faster than that of its USB 2.0, 5400-RPM siblings. The company also adds an active 4000rpm cooling system inside this HDD/SSD slot-in rack to prevent overheat.
