The Sony LT HD PC/TV is a mini home theater with an on board Blu-ray drive and a CableCard slot. Its Blu-ray drive is able to record 50GB of HD movie on a single disk, and plays HD movies on its 22-inch widescreen display. If you don’t want to spend $2900 on all that fancy HD stuff, there is an LT standard model that costs $1900, and doesn’t have that Blu-ray drive on board.

The new home theater systems from Samsung will take home entertainment to a whole new level. The first one is the HT-TXQ120, which features 5.1 surround, 1000W of sound strength through tall speakers, HDMI in and out, and USB hosting. It is the world’s first full 1080p upscaling DVD entertainment system. The next one is the Samsung HT-X250R, that compromises on the power (down to 600W) but keeps the tall speakers. And the last one is the Samsung HT-X200R, which is a 2.1 set and features standard satellite speakers instead of the tall speakers. The Samsung HT-TXQ120 retails for $1845, while the Samsung HT-X250R and HT-X200R are cheaper at $820 and $720 respectively.

JVC’s latest home theater in a box (HTIB), the TH-L1, is now available. What makes the TH-L1 apart from your typical HTIB is that it has both component and HDMI switching (1080p capable, but not HDMI 1.3) and an Apple iPod interface. The system consists of five speakers, a subwoofer, DTS and Dolby Digital decoding, and an array of inputs on the front and back. JVC’s TH-L1 is priced at $299.

The Sony HT-DDW990 is a home theater system with HDMI switching capabilities (2 HDMI inputs). This system provides up to 900 Watts of total power: 140 Watts from each of the 5 speakers (6 Ohm), and another 200 Watts from the powered subwoofer. The included A/V receiver has ample inputs and outputs including 3 component video, 2 HDMI video, 4 composite video, 2 digital optical audio, 1 digital coax audio, and 6 analog audio inputs. Sadly, the HDMI standard used on this model only supports up to 1080i and cannot process 1080p HD signals. The Sony HT-DDW990 is now available for $199.
