
Apple has rolled out the new iMacs that features the latest Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors and new graphics cards. The 21.5-inch model retails for $1,199, while the 27-inch version is priced at $1,699. Both models boast more powerful graphics, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, an SDXC card slot, and a choice of ATI Radeon graphics cards. Other hardware specifications include a 256GB solid state drive as a primary or secondary drive, a LED-backlit display, and Mac OS X Snow Leopard as the operating system. Word has it that Apple will launch the 22-inch touch-enabled iMac in 2010. It seems that Apple will be contracting Quanta for the production of this 22-inch model, while the Taiwan-based Sintek Photronic will be supplying the touchscreen panels. Stay tuned for more updates. [Digitimes]

Apple has finally released the 27-inch iMac Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 to fix screen flickering, where it will update the graphics firmware on ATI Radeon HD 4670 and 4850 graphics cards. The firmware update weighs in at 683KB and requires at least Mac OS X 10.6.2. [MacRumors]

AppleInsider has received unconfirmed information from several sources about Apple’s next iMac revision, which is expected to be available next year. According to the new information, Apple will use Intel Core i7 “Clarksfield” mobile processors and Blu-ray drives in the next-generation iMac. Apple has quietly announced this week to start selling an aluminum 20-inch iMac configuration for schools. Each $899 iMac features a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive, and an nVidia GeForce 9400M graphics card. Buyers authorized to make purchases for their educational institution can pre-order the new aluminum iMacs today for delivery in about a month. According to rumors, Apple is preparing for the new 28 inch iMac that would be powered by a Corei7, the latest processor from Intel. The latest Corei7 version will run use Intel’s X58 chipset. There is no confirmation from Apple. We will keep you posted. [Apple Insider]

I think I will spend all day on this Ultimate Office Computer Setup. Dubbed as the Cocoon, the computer setup consists of a 24-inch Intel iMac, 15-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Pro with six LCD monitors, several PCs, and a couple of Kinesis Freestyle keyboards. Apple has unveiled an updated version of the iMac all-in-one desktop computer. The new iMac offers faster processors with 6MB L2 cache and a faster 1066 MHz front-side bus, and 2GB of RAM.
