Ibase has announced a small PC that utilities Intel’s 1.1GHz Atom Z510 CPU with up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a CompactFlash storage. The iBase CSB200-888 provides six USB 2.0 ports, two serial ports, a DVI-D video output, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Unfortunately, Ibase did not release details of availability, pricing, or operating system support for the CSB200-888. The computer should be compatible with Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, and other embedded operating systems. [Ibase]
I guess you are bored with the Eee PC competitor news. But here is a new Eee-PC competitor which is powered with a new Atom CPU. The Akoya Mini from Medion is a 10 inch small notebook which is powered by Intel’s Atom processor, on-board Linux, 1GB RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, a memory card slot, VGA out, and a 1.3MP webcam. Panasonic has decided to release the Toughbook, which is the company’s first UMPC with the Intel Atom processor. The gadget is a water and dust resistant and comes with a 5.6 inch touchscreen display. No word on pricing so far. [Akihabara via Laptop Blog]
