Computerworld Malaysia is reporting that Broadband over Powerline (BPL) provider Velchip Sdn Bhd has formalised three major partnerships to advance the world’s biggest BPL project announced earlier this month. The project intends offering 60 million people unlimited high speed Internet connection of 224Mbps (megabits per second) at a cost of only around RM5 (US$1.58) per user per month. LG has announced that they will be dropping a new web phone called the Touchphone LH2300 in Korea. It comes with a 3-inch wide touchscreen LCD with WVGA resolution, a jog wheel, an Internet hot key, and a Quick Search icon. Along with the basics like a 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus, microSD memory card slot, bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and TDMB. Japan has made a new breakthrough in bringing you a “super high-speed Internet” service to homes and businesses use around the world. Kizuna will enable data transmissions “of up to 1.2 gigabytes per second” many times faster than what is now available over residential cable or DSL services. LG showcased their KF310 internet phone at the mobile world congress in Barcelona. The KF310 supports MSN Messenger as well as Google services including Search, Maps and Gmail. No word on availability or pricing yet.
