LaCie has once again expanded its rugged external hard drive series by launching the Rugged eSATA. Unlike most external HDDs, the Rugged eSATA comes with both USB 2.0 and Power eSATA interfaces. On top of that, the drive also features a unique scratch-resistant aluminum shell, internal anti-shock absorbers and a shock-resistant rubber bumper, and is able to provide transfer speeds of up to 36 MB/s via USB and 90 MB/s via eSATA. LaCie 2Big - World's First USB 3.0 Dual-Drive RAID Storage Solution

LaCie in collaboration with Symwave are getting ready to launch the world’s first USB 3.0 dual-drive RAID storage solution, the LaCie 2Big. Based on USB 3.0 specification, this new storage device will have two 3.5-inch hard drives for a total capacity of up to 4TB (RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration) and provide transfer speeds of up to 275MB/s. LaCie Rikiki Ultra-Compact 2.5-Inch Portable Hard Drive

LaCie has introduced its latest ultra-compact portable hard drive for the mass market, the Rikiki (‘tiny’ in French). Measuring only 4.3-inch x 2.9-inch x .5-inch, this 2.5-inch drive features a sturdy brushed aluminum exterior, a USB 2.0 interface and is compatible with both Macs and PCs. The device boasts a 1TB of storage capacity and supports both UPnP and DLNA. LaCie today upgraded its LaCinema series with the LaCinema Classic HD, which is a multimedia hard disk player with full 1080p playback and DLNA functionality. The device is compatible with DivX, MKV, AVC and H.264 file formats and supports Dolby Digital audio. Connectivity includes 10/100 Ethernet, HDMI 1.3, Composite audio/video and several USB 2.0 ports, which can be used to attach external storage. The LaCinema Classic HD is also able to stream content to the DLNA-compatible media player such as Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, it won’t work with the Nintendo Wii. LaCie has launched the Network Space 2 Network Attached Storage (NAS) and media server that is designed by Neil Poulton. The Network Space 2 is user friendly thanks to the preloaded LaCie Network Assistant that allows users to customize the dashboard with widgets allowing them to easily access networks, drive information, user accounts, and drive capacity. The device can also stream multimedia files to any UPnP/DLNA compliant devices, including Sony’s PlayStation 3 or Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming consoles. The LaCie Network Space 2 features the iTunes server software, which enables Mac or PC users play content directly from the drive instead of their local iTunes libraries. Famous gadget manufacturer LaCie has joined with world-renowned designer Phillippe Starck to design and release the LaCie Starck external hard drive. The cool part of these LaCie Starck hard drives is its intelligent touch-sensitive surface, which responds to your touch. You can even customize the front panel of the LaCie Starck, so that it opens the application of your choosing, depending on whether you use a short tap or a long touch. The LaCie Starck also comes with a sturdy aluminum casing that will protect the device from shock and overheating. Available in desktop and mobile versions, these hard drives also have aluminum casings that will help dissipate heat. The desktop version features a 3-mm thick aluminum casing with a “Starck signature” LED. Meanwhile. the mobile version comes with a 2-mm thick aluminum casing with a built-in retractable USB cable. Sadly, the mobile model has no signature LEDs and touch panels. The 1TB and 2TB desktop hard drives are priced at $130 and $250, respectively. LaCie’s new LaCinema Rugged HD is a USB-powered external hard drive that will output 1080p video to a TV via HDMI. The device provides up to 500GB of storage capacity, that is enough to store plenty of 1080p movies. This HD player works with all the major codecs including H.264, WMV9, and MKV.
