The Mitsubishi Viseo MDT241WG will be released in Japan this June 1st. The screen features a 24.1-inch widescreen design and a WUXGA (1920×1200) LCD. It provides a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 16ms response time, and a 178-degree viewing angle and also sports an MV engine which effectively reduces blurring effects and makes fluid motion on-screen. The Viseo will retail for around $1146.
Samsung’s new 32 inch HDTV boasts the 8,000:1 contrast ratio and has a sleek gloss-black frame. The screen also comes with a built-in ATSC TV tuner, 1,366 x 768 resolution, three HDMI ports, 500 nits brightness, dual component inputs, a PC input and headphone jack, eight-millisecond response time, and twin ten-watt speakers. No word on pricing or availability yet.
Measuring at just 10 inches deep, the JVC 58-inch HD-58S998 is the skinnier plasma and LCD TV on both screen size and price. This TV retails for around $2,400.
According to the folks at C|NET, not at all. In fact, if not for a few geometry issues (the TV couldn’t display perfectly straight vertical or horizontal lines), this 1080p set would have been a near-perfect specimen. So unless you have eagle eyes, plan on staring at text/TV Guide menus all day long, or just don’t like fatties, this TV is worth a look.
Sharp has developed an advanced LCD panels that provides a better viewing experience on portable devices. These new panels feature a response speed which is three times as fast as conventional panels and hold the world record for having the highest contrast ratio for 2 Inch LCDs used in mobile devices.
Sony will be releasing a new line of ultra thin 3mm thick OLED displays later this year. The screen features 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1080p, and 1920 x 1080 native resolution. Watch the video after the break!
Magic Advertising Mirror from Magic Display China is a unique mirror that switches to an advertising display. Placed in a public toilet, the ads are displayed when no one is standing in front of it, but it switches to the mirror mode when someone comes near the mirror to wash their hands. Interesting! Samsung have been showing off their SyncMaster 940UX a.k.a. UbiSync LCD monitor at CeBIT 2007. The monitor does not need the conventional VGA or DVI ports since it connects to PC using a simple USB connection. The company claims that this USB monitor is capable of 32-bit color and DVD-quality video playback. Samsung’s UbiSync LCD will be available in May for $678.
The La Crosse WS-1025 Window Thermometer provides a large readout of the current temperature outside on a transparent LCD display. The gadget also shows the maximum and minimum temperatures for the day. All readings are automatically reset at midnight thanks to the internal clock. The La Crosse WS-1025 Window Thermometer sells for $12.95.
LG has rolled out their latest LCD monitor, the Flatron L1960-TR, which boasts 3000:1 contrast ratio. This 19-inch LCD screen has the DFC (Digital Fine Contrast) control technology that LG claims, “is as close as you get to the real thing.” The L1960-TR also provides both VGA and DVI video inputs. The LG Flatron L1960-TR LCD screen is priced at $289.99. Its widescreen version will be released in April this year.
Korea Times has reported that Samsung SDI will produce a slimmer, brighter, and clearer mobile phone display which is only a 0.74mm thick. However, they are also expected to mass produce their 1.9mm thick LCD module the 2nd quarter of 2007 which will be the slimmest LCD module in the market.
