
HP hits back with a new LCD monitor, the ZR2740w. Designed for professionals, this 27-inch LED-backlight makes use of an IPS panel and provides 2560 x 1440 native resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 380 cd/m2 brightness, 14ms response time and 178/178 degree viewing angles. In terms of connectivity, it offers both DVI-D and DisplayPort. The ZR2740w is available now for 65,100 Yen (about $852). [HP]

The Sony Trimaster EL PVM-2551MD is a 25-inch full HD monitor that provides an accurate color reproduction, which is perfect for the healthcare industry. This monitor adopts the Super Top Emission (STE) technology that enhances color purity and improves light-emission efficiency. The company will release the Sony Trimaster EL PVM-2551MD in the Japanese market next month for 980,000 Yen($12,776). [Akihabara]

The Dell S2230MX 21.5-inch display measures at only 9.9mm at its thinnest point. This ultra-thin monitor features a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a 250cd/m2 brightness, a 2ms response time, and a 170/160 degree viewing angle. AOC will launch two new Full HD monitors namely the 21.5-inch i2252Vwh and 23-inch i2352Vh. Both monitors features LED backlights, TN-bashing IPS (in-plane switching) panels, a glossy black bezel, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5ms response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio), and a brightness of 250 cd/m2. LG Electronics will introduce a couple of new high-end monitors at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany. The LG E91 is a 23-inch Full HD monitor with a LED backlight that features a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 250 nits brightness, and a 2ms GTG response time. The LG D23IPS is a 23-inch IPS panel that offers 3D support, a full HD resolution, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 250 nits brightness in 2D mode, a 100 nits in 3D mode, and the company’s 2D to 3D conversion feature. NEC is about to drop another LCD monitor ‘MultiSync LCD-EX201W’ for the mass market. Coming in either white or black color option, this new 20-inch LED-backlight monitor makes use of a TN panel and provides 1600 x 900 native resolution, 25,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 5ms response time. Not only that, this widescreen monitor also consumes just 15W of power during normal operation, and features both DVI and DisplayPort connectors. Samsung has launched three new SyncMaster monitors namely the S27A850, S24A650, and S24A350T. These monitors feature a 178/178 degree viewing angle, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and Samsung’s Eco Saving feature that reduces power consumption by up to 50%. The SyncMaster S27A850 adopts the LED PLS (Plane to Line Switching) display technology that offers an ultra-high resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The SyncMaster S24A650 and S24A350T provide a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The new Samsung SyncMaster S27A850, S24A650, S24A350T are priced at $1105, $545 and $275, respectively. [PCLaunches]

Iiyama today announced the availability of two new Full HD monitors in Japan, the 24-inch XB2472HD-B and 27-inch X2775HDS-B. Both models come equipped with a LED backlight VA panel that produces a 3,000:1 contrast ratio. These Full HD monitors also feature an HDMI port, a DVI-D output and an ECO mode, which is capable of reducing up to 60% of power consumption. The 24-inch model offers a 300cd/m2 of brightness level, while the 27-inch model features a 250cd/m2 of brightness level. Dell has just announced the availability of their new ultra-slim monitor ‘S2330MX’ in the US. Available via Dell online shop, the S2330MX sells for $249.99. Using a TN panel, this new 23-inch LED-backlight provides 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 2ms (GTG) response time, and features both D-Sub and DVI connectors. CTL has released three new widescreen LED monitors, the 22-inch LP2151, 24-inch LP2361 and 27-inch LP2701. These monitors feature a 16:9 display ratio, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, a 2ms response time, a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and a 300 cd/m2 brightness. Other specs include HDMI, DVI and analog inputs. All three of them are also Energy Star-rated, Epeat-certified, and consume 40% less energy compared to a standard display.
