
I-O Data today launched the I-O Data LCD-MF221CBR Full HD display that can be used for either PC or TV use. This LCD monitor uses White LEDs that reduce energy consumption. The display also features sensors that will automatically switch to the ECO mode, when the user walks away from the display for a while. The I-O Data LCD-MF221CBR supports 1920 × 1080 HD resolution, a 1000:1 contrast ratio (10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio) and a couple of 1W speakers. No word on pricing at this moment. [I-O Data]

Apple has announced the availability of the brand new 27-inch LED Cinema Display that boasts an impressive 2560 x 1440 resolution. The latest model features an iSight camera, speakers, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a MagSafe charger and a trio of USB 2.0 hubs. There is an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness based on the lighting conditions. You can connect your LED Cinema Display to any of the current lineup of Mac notebooks and desktop computers such as MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Pro. The new LED Cinema Display will be available in September 2010 for a price of $999. LG has recently introduced several new ultra-slim LCD monitors in its EX-series such as the 20-inch EX205, 21.5-inch EX225, and 23-inch EX235. Each display features a 17.5mm thick bezel and LED backlighting, with a 5ms of response time. FYI, the LED technology is claimed to reduce power consumption by approximately 40 percent, while bringing the dynamic contrast ratio up to 1,500,000:1. BenQ has added a new LED display to its range by releasing the G922HDL, the world’s first 18.5-inch LED backlight LCD display. This widescreen monitor offers 1366 x 768 WXGA resolution, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5 million:1 and comes with the Eco Mode feature. It also adopts BenQ’s patented Senseye 3 Human Vision Technology offering one touch optimization of image richness, clarity and depth using preset modes calibrated to specific applications and comes with both D-Sub and DVI inputs. JVC has showed off its new LED display in Times Square that offers 720p (1,280 x 720) resolution. This billboard is able to display 60 frames per second with only 8mm pixel pitch. [Engadget]

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich has unveiled the Nova 3D LED display in order to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Measuring 5 meters x 5 meters x 1 metes and weighing in at 3.3 tons, the Nova is the world’s largest 3D display that has 25000 lightballs, each containing 12 LED’s.
