
German-born lighting designer Ingo Maurer has recently introduced the energy efficient Double C-Future OLED chandelier at Milan Design Week. The super tech-style pendent lamp features nine suspended OLED panels from lighting manufacturers Osram and Novaled. Philips’ LivingColors v2 is 50% brighter than the previous version. Combining seven LEDs, the lighting system is able to display up to 16 million colors, letting you infinitely adjust the hues with which your environment is lit. The LivingColors v2 also offers an additional opaque version, concentrating all the light exactly where you point it. The Philips’ LivingColors LED lighting system is priced at between $230 and $350. The GeoBulb II Wedge Base type bulb is designed to fit into all wedge-based fixtures. The bulb is claimed to last 30,000 hours and uses only 7.5-Watts of power while dispensing 60-watts of equivalent light intensity. Who would’ve thought the science of illuminating your crib to be this complicated, but if Gary Yu designed this “Tile” then there’s definitely a market hungry for it. “Tile is a clean, unique, playful, contemporary, and multifunctional LED lighting device.” The system allows the lighting units to rotate in both X and Z axis so they can function as a work, floor, wall or whatever you can think of lamp.
