DosPara has recently introduced the new Linux powered netbook in the form of the Prime Note Cartina. Weighing at only 1.1kg, this netbook features an 8.9 inch (WSVGA) LCD with an Atom N270 CPU, 120GB of HDD, 1GB RAM, and WiFi B/G. You don’t see many Linux computers running around, so the Linutop 2 would be many of the few. This Xubuntu-based system runs on top of a 500MHz AMD Geode CPU, has 512MB of RAM, and 1GB of flash memory, basically for applications. The Linutop 2 uses only 8 watts of power and has four USB ports, an ethernet jack, audio outs, and comes with AbiWord, Open Office, and Firefox. Lenovo Starts Selling Linux-Preloaded Laptops

Reuters reported that Lenovo will start selling laptop computers preloaded with Novell Inc.’s version of Linux operating system. The laptops are slated to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2007. For your info, Novell’s Linux distribution called SUSE is available for personal computers in Enterprise Desktop and free of charge openSUSE variant.

Dell Ispiron E1505 will be the Company’s first consumer notebook PC that comes pre-loaded with Linux operating system. The company will be launching this laptop starting next Thursday, 24th May 2007. In case you didn’t know, Ubuntu 7.04 is the latest version of this popular Linux distribution. Dell Ispiron E1505 comes equipped with a 15.4-inch widescreen display, and Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Pricing info is still in a mystery.

Someone at YouTube shows us the Sony Ericsson P990i phone which uses a copy of Ubuntu Linux as its operating system. FYI, the smartphone features a 240 x 320 TFT touchscreen display, 2.0MP shooter, 64MB RAM, 128MB Flash memory, 60MB built-in memory, 802.11b Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a music player, and USB 2.0 connectivity.
