Apple Announces New Mac Pro Range

Apple has updated its Mac Pro series with up to 12 cores and up to 50 percent more performance than the previous models. The new Mac Pro desktops feature the latest quad-core and 6-core Intel Xeon processors, all-new ATI graphics and the option for up to four 512GB solid state drives (SSD). The processors run at speeds up to 3.33GHz and use a single die design so they can share up to 12MB L3 cache. It comes equipped with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics processor with a 1GB of memory and you can configure-to-order the even faster ATI Radeon HD 5870 with a 1GB of memory. What’s more, the new Mac Pro also provides two Mini DisplayPorts and one dual-link DVI port. The additional Mini DisplayPort output allows you to connect two LED Cinema Displays without an additional graphics card or adapter and the dual-link DVI port supports legacy DVI-based displays up to a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Word has it that Apple will release a new version of high-end Mac Pro on March 16, 2010. The new Mac Pro will come with a “Hexacore” Core i7-980x processors clocked at 3.33GHz, TurboBoosting at 3.6GHz. However, there is no official confirmation from Apple so far. We will keep you posted. Cocoon - Ultimate Office Computer Setup

I think I will spend all day on this Ultimate Office Computer Setup. Dubbed as the Cocoon, the computer setup consists of a 24-inch Intel iMac, 15-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Pro with six LCD monitors, several PCs, and a couple of Kinesis Freestyle keyboards. The six LCD screens consists of four HPs, one ViewSonic, and a 30-inch Apple Cinema Display. The system is powered by two APC uninterrupted power supplies. [Tuaw]
