According to analyst Shaw Wu, Apple may sell new Macbooks with Flash memory. These new Apple notebooks will be known as sub-notebooks and will have a stripped down version of Apple’s current operating system. It is probably to facilitate the smaller storage space as a result of switching to Flash memory only. Flash memory based notebooks provides a faster boot time, better battery life (less moving parts) and less chances of data loss as the hard drive has no moving parts.
Here is another rumor of Apple products. Apple Insider has reported that Apple is now working on an ultra-portable version of MacBook laptop. It will be “lighter and more compact than any other Mac portable Apple has put forth in recent yearsâ€. The laptop will include the use of NAND flash memory to speed up boot times. However, the optical drive will be excluded in order to save on space. This ultra-portable MacBook is expected to be released near Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in mid 2007. Let’s wait and see…!
According to rumors, Apple is all set to launch the 15.4-inch MacBooks in the second quarter of 2007. The new 15.4-inch MacBooks will be made by Quanta Computer, which also manufactures the 15.4- and 17-inch MacBook Pros for Apple. Stay tuned for more updates!
Rumor has it that the upcoming MacBook is going to be hotter and thinner. Mac OS Rumors reports that Apple has listed all the specifications of the new thinner MacBook. They received the list from “trusted sources in Cupertino and Southeast Asia”, whatever that means. Here’s the breakdown
12-inch widescreen display(1280×800 resolution)
2.16 or 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors
1GB of DDR2-667 memory standard. Max. capacity 3GB
Here’s Apple’s new holiday ad, with all the MacBooks and the iPods and the iMacs and everything Apple-icious gliding over virtual ice and making kaleidoscopic dances. I bet this would stimulate your optic nerves as much as it did mine. I watched it 3 times and I’m watching it again as soon as I hit “post”.
This modder claims to have created “the world’s first carbon fiber MacBook†(notice the quotes). He used Carbon Graphix, a $20 vinyl sticker you can get just about anywhere and slapped it on his MacBook like a decal. The thing really looks like real carbon fiber so it could fool people on the first pass. Ok so it’s not the real thing but don’t you wish you could make your MacBook super light as air and super durable with a $20 sticker? LOL. Not a bad idea though. More pictures after the jump.
The sticker can be easily applied and removed from your MacBook to give it that MacBook Pro look. This definitely beats the alternative, and looks more polished too.
Sally told Susan told Johnny told Sally again that a 15.4-inch Macbook will be released in May 2007. We are actually a little disappointed at the news and would much prefer a smaller version of the notebook. And what the hell is Sally doing talking to Johnny again?
As much as I would agree with the kind folks at Gizmodo I don’t really mind variety. Besides my 12″ iBook is breaking my back (from slouching too much so I can look at my f***ing screen). Well I guess Steve Jobs is facing some real time dilemma here, it’s never easy to please us demanding users!
