
Chinese manufacturer Spark has rolled out a new hard drive media player that looks like a huge egg. Dubbed as the VTube, the gadget has a 2.5-inch hard drive and plays most of video files including DAT, MPG, VOB, TS, AVI, DIVX and XVID. Measuring 212mm x 150mm x 56mm, the VTube also has a USB2.0 port, an AV port, a HDMI port, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The VTube HD hard drive media player is priced at 899 Yuan or equal to $132. Ainol will release the V8000HD portable media player that will be available in three models including the V8000HDG (Jetfire) with a 5-inch 800×480 touchscreen, the V8000HDB (Defcon) with a 4.3-inch 480×272 display and the V8000HDA (Metorplex) that gets a 4.3-inch 800×480 touchscreen display. All of these media players support for H.264 (MPEG4-AVC) decoding and playback of MKV, MOV, PMP, MP4 video files. Other features include an HDMI output and a USB connectivity. Creative has officially released their new Zii Egg touchscreen media device. The gadget is capable of outputting video in 1080p and 1080p HDTVs via HD cable. Our friends at Engadget Spanish have a new toy in their office. Asus has sent them the ASUS O!Play HDP-R1 media player. The gadget supports an HD video playback in a wide variety of codecs, including MPEG1/2/4, H.264, VC-1, and RM/RMVB. Unfortunately, there is no info on pricing or release date in the US.
