
ASUS has unveiled its upcoming motherboard ‘Maximus III Formula’ that is based on the Intel P55 chipset. This high-end socket provides a heap of power phases, four dual channel-ready DDR3 memory slots, three PCI-Express x16 slots for multi-GPU setups and a secsy cooling system. In addition, it also integrates one eSATA and six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, Gigabit Ethernet, Power, Reset, Clear CMOS buttons and a large number of overclocking perks. The ASUS ‘Marine Cool’ motherboard is a concept motherboard design that is aimed at hardcore gamers and overclockers. The motherboard features a ceramic backplate which should assist with heat dissipation more efficiently than conventional motherboard design, and a UPS battery backup hidden behind it. MSI has just unveiled its latest motherboard that supports up to 8 memory slots. P45-D8 motherboard is compatible with current DDR2 memory and also the up-coming DDR3. The new MSI P45-8D Memory Lover motherboard is powered by the latest Intel® P45 Express chipset. It supports the Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme / Quad and other multi-core processors with an FSB up to 1600MHz. Users can expand to 16GB by using four DDR2 memory or 8GB by using four DDR3 memory. P45-8D Memory Lover is also equipped with PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics card slot, which allows up to twice the bandwidth of current PCI Express slot. [MSI]

EPIA N700 is the first board embedded with the company’s VX800 processor. The VIA VX800 media system processor is an all-in-one, highly integrated digital media chipset featuring the latest video, graphics and connectivity performance in a single chip. It offers DirectX9 graphics core and video playback for MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WMV9, VC1 and DiVX video formats. The board is available with either a power-efficient 1.5GHz VIA C7 or 500MHz VIA Eden processor, supports up to 2GB of DDR2 system memory and includes two onboard S-ATA connectors, USB 2.0, COM and Gigabit LAN ports. The VIA EPIA N700 board is the most compact Nano-ITX board so far measuring only 12cm x 12cm. It should be available through resellers in September, price is TBD. [VIA]

Biostar today introduced the successor to the P35 motherboard by releasing the new P45 series. This motherboard comes with a faster Front Side Bus (FSB), an easy setup for both Crossfire and SLI configurations and support for faster memory. There are also six SATA connectors and 10 USB ports.
