Buffalo Launches 24TB TeraStation NAS In Japan

Buffalo has decided to launch the TeraStation TS-8VH24TL/R6 Network Attached Storage (NAS) in the Japanese market. The device can hold 8x 3TB hard disk drives, providing up to 24TB of storage space. The TeraStation TS-8VH24TL/R6 supports a 1.66GHz dual core Intel Atom D510 processor, RAID 6 setup, DLNA and BitTorrent. The company will release this 24TB NAS for 500,000 Yen or around $6,192. Apple has quietly updated the capacity of its Time Capsule network attached storage devices, with 2TB and 3TB options, replacing 1TB and 2TB drives in the previous model. The Time Capsule is a revolutionary backup device that works wirelessly with Time Machine in Mac OS X Leopard or later. The device automatically backs up everything, so you never have to worry about losing your important files. Synology DiskStation DS211+ NAS Drive

Synology has expanded its DiskStation network-attached storage (NAS) line by releasing the new DiskStation DS211+. This latest model includes two hot-swappable drive bays, which allows a hard drive to be replaced in the event of a failure. Each drive bays supports 3TB hard drives, allowing the NAS to support as much as 6TB of storage space over a network. The Synology DiskStation DS211+ can be arranged in a RAID configuration that provides added redundancy to help protect against data loss. Each purchase comes bundled with Synology’s DiskStation Manager software to provide a full control for all services that are installed on the NAS. This included software also has the ability to back data up through Time Machine, audio and video streaming to UPnP devices, and a full range of third-party plug-ins, including FTP services and on-device BitTorrent (News – Alert) clients. D-Link ShareCenter Pulse NAS Storage

D-Link has finally launched their new ShareCenter Pulse NAS Storage that can hold a couple of 3.5-inch SATA hard-drives. The storage device features UPnP media streaming, iTunes server functionality, standalone BitTorrent downloads and various power management systems that D-Link reckons make the ShareCenter Pulse relatively green. The ShareCenter Pulse also supports hard-drive hibernation and “Green Ethernet”, which intelligently controls networking power consumption based on the state of your cabling, together with a smart fan that automatically adjusts according to temperature. You can also schedule fixed downtime, turning the NAS off when you won’t be needing it, and use it with Apple’s Time Machine backup. Buffalo LS-WV NAS Series

Buffalo has rolled out a successor to the LS-WXL series in the form of the new LS-WV series. Available in a 1TB, 2TB, 3TB or 4TB of storage space, the LS-WV comes with a faster processor than its predecessors. This new processor allows the NAS to transfer 1000 photos (around 800MB) in just 48.3 seconds. For your info, the Buffalo LS-WXL requires 55.4 seconds to transfer the same amount of data. Plextor is set to drop their latest Network Attached Storage (NAS) device called the PX-NAS2. Designed for small office/home office (SoHo) and home users, the device is equipped with two 3.5-inch hard drive bays for a maximum of 4TB of storage space, two USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 for sharing data with other digital media devices such as media player, Xbox or PS3. In addition, the device can also be functioned as an HTTP/FTP or iTunes server, and comes bundled with the Memeo software which enables automatic backup to multiple locations.
