NetGear comes back to the NAS market with the Stora, a home network storage that is designed for first-time users who don’t want to learn server administration. Using the remote access via www.MyStora.com, the device enables cross-platform file sharing, music listening, movie watching and photo sharing from any Internet-connected device. In addition to sharing files over the web, users can also share photos, videos and files between home computers and home media players. The Stora can centralize music collections and play music through iTunes. It can also automatically integrate content with remote photo frames and social networking sites such as Facebook. In addition, this entry-level NAS can also serve content to other networked devices such as Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled photo frames, XBox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles, and iPhone and Blackberry mobile phones. The HDL-C is a new Network Attached Storage (NAS) from I-O Data that features a new and elegant new design. The device supports USB 2.0 and LAN connectivity. Available in 500GB, 1TB or 1.5TB, the NAS will be available across Japan within October this year for 13,600 Yen($150), 18,900 Yen($209), and 24,200 Yen($268), respectively. [I-O Data]
LG’s latest N2R1 network attached storage device will be available in 1TB and 2TB storage capacities. The NAS supports Windows, Linux and Mac compatibility, an easy drive swapping option, and a DLNA-compliant, network-sharable DVD player/RW. The N2R1 has integrated WiFi connectivity for easy connection to any 802.11g wireless home network. The MyMedia feature allows consumers access to videos, photos and music through a DLNA-certified media player, placing digital entertainment libraries within easy reach of the big-screen. For music lovers, the N2R1 also has iTunes connectivity for a networked music option. Xtreamer will launch a new NAS that supports up to 4TB of storage across two bays, Anyone who has purchased last year’s model by November 1st, 2009 will get a chance to pre-order this one for €59 ($84) when the listing opens on that day. Drobo today released the DroboPro NAS. Priced at $1,300, the storage device will connect to your network through iSCSI (over an Ethernet cable), FireWire 800 or USB 2.0. Western Digital comes back with an 8TB ShareSpace NAS that is priced at a hefty $1,700. This DLNA-certified NAS is perfect for media streaming purposes to devices including the Xbox 360 and PS3. Lacie is famous for its external hard drives, RAID arrays, optical drives, and computer monitors. The company has rolled out the new DVR in the form of the LaCinema Black MAX. It is actually a direct competitor to Western Digital’s TV HD Media Player. The Lacinema Black MAX is a NAS storage device with a proprietary UI that can connect to your HDTV (HDMI and component) and output a 1080p signal. The device comes with either a 500GB or 1TB hard drive, that can be expanded via its USB 2.0 inputs.
