
The Netgear MBR1210 mobile wireless-N router has been approved by the FCC. The HBR1210 features 4 Ethernet ports, a SIM card slot and an external antenna. The company describe the MBR1210 as a “mobile” router. Too bad, the device doesn’t sound too mobile as described, since it has a power port, which unfortunately could mean that the device needs to be plugged in. Netgear has rolled out a couple HD media players in the form of the NeoTV 550 and 350. Both media players support playback of 1080p Full HD media files and supports most media formats including XviD, DivX, MP4, MKV, AVCHD as well as Dolby Digital and DTS digital audio. The NeoTV 350 and 550 both have a SD card slot and USB port for external storage. The NeoTV 550 also supports an eSATA port, BD-Live and an external Blu-ray drive. Netgear is back with a couple of next-generation HomePlug AV-certified powerline kits in the form of the compact Powerline AV 500 Adapter Kit (XAVB5001) and the Powerline AV+ 500 Adapter Kit (XAVB5501) which comes with a filtered “pass-through” power socket. These adapters are designed to be compatible with the draft international IEEE P1901 powerline standard and provides greater speeds for bandwidth-hungry applications such as lag-free Internet gaming, Voice over IP (VoIP), large file transfers to networked devices, and simultaneous 1080p HD video streaming to multiple TVs throughout the home. Ericsson and Netgear have collaborated to launch a new 3G/Wi-Fi router in the form of the Netgear MBRN3300. This wireless router can use an internal 3G modem, including HSPA+ at roughly 20Mbps, and share the link through either 802.11n Wi-Fi or through four 100Mbps Ethernet ports. The device is ideal for use as a modem for homes where regular cable, DSL or fiber isn’t available, or for completely mobile local networks. NetGear comes back with their latest product in the form of the Rangemax Wireless-N Gigabit router (model number: WNR3500L). The router supports full 802.11n speeds with four Gigabit Ethernet ports to provide a high speed wired connection. The Rangemax Wireless-N uses the powerful Broadcom 480MHz MIPS 74K CPU with an 8MB of Flash and a 64MB of RAM allowing the router to use open source Linux as its operating system.
