QNAP Systems today expanded their popular Business Series Turbo NAS lineup with the addition of a new 5-drive desktop model, the TS-559 Pro. The NAS provides up to 10TB of storage (using 2TB hard drives and single disk volume/ JBOD configuration). The device is compatible with VMware’s vSphere 4 (ESX 4.0) virtualization platform, which is perfect for file sharing, storage, and advanced server applications in the office environment. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Although the Thecus N0204 is small, this network attached storage is able to hold a maximum of 1TB capacity, thanks to 2.5″ hard drives or SSDs within. Claimed as the world’s smallest NAS, the Thecus N0204 has only a couple of bays with RAID 0, 1 or JBOD configuration. The device is also compatible with both Mac and PC networks and will work with Wi-Fi orGigabit LAN via the Ethernet connection on the back of the unit. The new StorCenter ix2-200 NAS from Iomega features dual bays that can be set up in Raid 1 and supports a range of storage sizes including 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. The device has Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and supports for Windows Active Directory and Time Machine, remote access, iSCSI block-level access, and a QuikTransfer button for easy copying of selected files. QNAP today launched their new low cost NAS that is designed for home and office users. Dubbed as the QNAP TS-410, the NAS is powered by a 800MHz Marvell processor with a 256MB RAM and support for up to four of 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drives, a full range of RAID options, four USB ports and two e-SATA ports for future expansion purposes. NetGear comes back to the NAS market with the Stora, a home network storage that is designed for first-time users who don’t want to learn server administration. Using the remote access via www.MyStora.com, the device enables cross-platform file sharing, music listening, movie watching and photo sharing from any Internet-connected device. In addition to sharing files over the web, users can also share photos, videos and files between home computers and home media players. The Stora can centralize music collections and play music through iTunes. It can also automatically integrate content with remote photo frames and social networking sites such as Facebook. LaCie has recently released two new high capacity NAS in the form of the Big Disk Network and d2 Network. The d2 Network supports up to 1.5TB capacity, meanwhile the Big Disk Network combines two drives in a RAID 0 setting, for up to 4TBs of storage. Century today announced its new dual SATA bay NAS. Dubbed as the CRNS35NAS, the server is DLNA compatible and supports iTuner Server and Gigabit Ethernet. The Century Dual SATA Bay NAS will be sold in Japan for around 20,000 Yen ($204). [Akihabara]
