The Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue notebooks will be available soon in the US via authorized resellers and selected retailers. The Gemstone Blue line are claimed to be the first 18.4 inch and 16 inch laptops in the market with true High Definition cinematic capabilities. MSI today announced the price tag of its new Wind ultra portable laptop. This Eee PC competitor is priced at $399. FYI, the UMPC runs on Novell SUSE Linux operating system and features 512MB RAM, a 80GB hard drive. Meanwhile, the 1GB RAM and Windows XP version retails for $549. NEC claims its new Versa S9100 laptop to be the “toughest notebook in the world”. Its top cover is specially built to withstand a massive 300Kgs per square foot of pressure. However, the keyboard itself is not water resistant, too bad for a “toughest notebook in the world”. This desktop replacement also comes equipped with a fingerprint biometric sensor and TPM security chip combo. The NEC Versa S9100 laptop retails for a hefty US$2,700 in Singapore. Asus has announced their new gaming laptop which is based on a “Multi Dual-Engine” architecture with a duplex structure in its major system components, including dual graphics engine, dual hard drive bays and dual fan systems. The Asus G70 comes equipped with dual NVIDIA 8700M GT graphics cards in SLI technology with 1024MB GDDR3 of dedicated memory, dual hard drive bays with up to 640GB data with dual cooling fans. It also has a secondary LCD screen that shows critical system information. Other features include Blu-Ray Drive, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 2.0, and a built-in 2.0MP camera.
