OCZ Colossus 3.5-Inch SSDs Available Now

Remember the OCZ Colossus SSDs that we mentioned back in July? OCZ has finally announced the availability of these 3.5-inch SSDs in the US market. Coming in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities, these SSDs are based on MLC NAND flash memory chips and feature a SATA-II 3.0 Gbps interface, a 128MB of cache memory, dual controllers, a MTBF of 1.5 million hours and provide read/write speeds of up to 260/260 MB/s. The Colossus SSDs are now available for purchase via Amazon for $609 (120GB), $1,123 (250GB), $1,770 (500GB) and $3.572 (1TB), respectively. [Press Release]

OCZ has added a new member to its PCI-E SSD series by announcing the Z-Drive m84. Available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, these SSDs feature MLC NAND flash memory chips, a PCIe x8 interface, an onboard RAID controller, a MTBF of over 1 million hours and provide read/write speeds of 870/780 MB/s for the 1GB and 512GB models, and 750/650 MB/s for the 256GB model. OCZ has updated its 2.5-inch Vertex SSD series by releasing the Vertex Turbo SSD that provides higher the clock speed for both the host controller managing data and the 64MB of cache. OCZ estimates that the new SSD will offer peak read speeds of up to 270MB per second (up from 250MB) and peak write speeds of 210MB per second (up from 160MB). If you are in Japan and have at least 492800Yen($5,102) in your pocket, then you can buy the 1TB OCZ Z-Drive PCI-Express SSD that will be released in Akihabara next week. Available in 250GB, 500GB, and ITB of storage space, these SSD drives provide different reading and writing speeds.
