Coming in both 64GB and 128GB capacities, the Synapse is OCZ’s latest line of SATA 6.0 Gbps SSDs for the mass market. These 2.5-inch SSDs are packed with 2Xnm MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a SandForce SF-2281 controller, TRIM support, a MTBF of 2 million hours and promise to provide read/write speeds of up to 550/490 MB/s (64GB Model) and 550/510 MB/s (128GB Model), respectively. OCZ is about to launch a new line of SATA 6.0 Gbps SSDs into the market, the Petrol. Available in three different storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, these entry-level 2.5-inch SSDs are equipped with MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, an Indilinx Everest controller, TRIM support, a MTBF of 1,250,000 hours and provide read/write speeds of up to 360/135 MB/s (128GB Model), 370/240 MB/s (256GB Model) and 370 /250 MB/s (512GB Model), respectively. OCZ has launched the Talos 2 SSD series. Designed for enterprise systems, the storage device has capacities of up to 1TB and supports the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) 6.0Gbps interface. The OCZ Talos 2 is composed of either MLC (multi-level cell), eMLC (enterprise MLC) or SLC (single-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips. OCZ Octane SSD Series

OCZ Technology has unveiled the Octane SATA 3.0 and Octane-S2 SATA 2.0 SSD series. The Octane SATA 3.0 provides read speeds of 560MB/s and write speeds of 400MB/s, while the Octane-S2 SATA 2.0 features read speeds of 275MB/s and write speeds of 265MB/s. Both SSDs use the Indilinx Everest platform to deliver up to 45,000 IOPS. Available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of storage capacities, these storage devices have a dual-core controller chip and up to 512MB cache. No word on pricing at this time. [Anand Tech]

OCZ today introduced the new Synapse Cache SSD Series. Available in 64GB and 128GB models, these 2.5-inch SATA III SSDs are powered by NVELO’s DataPlex caching software that will increase the overall performance of the computer by using an SSD as a cache for the existing HDD. The 64GB model offers up to 550/490Mbps read/write speeds and 75,000 IOPS, while the 128GB model delivers 550/510MBps and 80,000 IOPS performance. Too bad, there is no info on pricing at this time. OCZ today unveiled the VeloDrive PCI-Express SSD, which is targeted toward small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The VeloDrive can be run in either hardware or software RAID mode and can be deployed in half-height or full-height system requirements. When compared with competing PCIe flash-based solutions, the highly-efficient VeloDrive has a minimal impact on system resources including CPU utilization and the system’s DRAM footprint.
