Other World Computing (OWC) has introduced a new member to its Blu-ray burner line-up by launching the Mercury Pro 12x External Blu-Ray Burner. Based on Pioneeer BDR-205 writer, the drive offers four different connection interfaces including FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and eSATA, an 8MB of buffer memory and provides 12x write speeds for Blu-ray Disc media, 16x for DVD and 40x for CD media. Other World Computing (OWC) will release the new Mercury On-The-Go Pro portable hard drive that comes in a 1TB of storage capacity. It is enough to store up to 1,000,000 JPEG photos, 500 DVD movies, 76-hours of digital video, or 350,000 MP3 songs. Weighing at just 1.1kg, the new model also comes with an 8MB caches and a data transfer speeds up to 100MB/s. Other World Computing (OWC) has updated its Mercury On-The-Go lineup with the 750GB model. The new model spins at 5200RPMs and boasts a 8MB of cache. The FireWire models use Oxford chipsets, while the USB 2.0-only model sports a JMicron bridge chipset. The OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro 750GB 5200RPM triple interface FireWire 800/400 & USB 2.0 model retails for $270, while the FireWire 400/USB 2.0 model is $250 and the USB 2.0-only model sells for $230. OWC has rolled out its latest enclosure namely the Express USB 2.0. This pocket-sized, USB 2.0 bus powered enclosure can hold a 2.5-inch SATA I/II hard drive with up to 9.5mm height.
