Palm has introduced a laptop-like device called Foleo. Designed as a companion to a mobile phone, the 2.5-pound Palm Foleo offers a 10-inch screen with 1024×600 resolution, a full-size QWERTY keyboard, a USB port, video-out port, headphone jack, and slots for SD and compact flash cards for memory expansion. The Foleo utilities Linux operating system and provides applications including email, web browser, and editors or viewers for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF. The company also claims that Foleo’s battery life lasts up to 5 hours. The Foleo will be priced at $499 after an introductory $100 rebate. Cingular will be launching the much anticipated Palm Treo 750 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 8-11. No price for the Palm Treo 750 is set yet for the U.S. It’s already available overseas through Vodafone.
