
Philips will release a couple of new mobile phones in the form of the C600 and W186. The Philips C600 is a dual-mode handset that works on Tri-band GSM networks (900/1800/1900 MHz), and on CDMA 800 MHz. The phone also has two call keys, one for GSM and one for CDMA. Other features include a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, an MP3 player, a 1.3MP camera with video recording, a 2.5MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support (up to 2GB).
Meanwhile, the Philips W186 is made for China Unicom’s Wo brand. The handset features Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band UMTS (850/2100 MHz) connectivity, with HSDPA 3.6Mbps. Other specs include a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels, a 2MP camera with video recording, Bluetooth with A2DP, an FM radio, a 150MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 8GB). Philips Europe has just introduced their new 22-inch monitor in the form of the Philips LightFrame T monitor. This new widescreen monitor comes with a big glowing “cool blue” frame that promises to reduce eye strain. Other interesting features include a 12,000:1 contrast ratio, SmartImage technology to enhance contrast, color saturation and sharpness of images and videos, and TrueVision Technology for monitor adjusting and fine tuning. Philips has added a new member to its Xenium series with the introduction of Philips X830. This new candybar phone is equipped with a touchscreen display with 240 x 400 resolution and 262k colors, a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, a music player, an FM radio with RDS, GPS, a 47MB of internal memory, a microSDHC card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth and supports quad band GSM connectivity with EDGE (no 3G). Philips has unveiled their latest candybar phone namely the Philips X550 that features an impressive battery lifetime (up to one month in stand-by mode). However, this new handset doesn’t have any 3G connectivity, instead it only relies on GPRS and EDGE for data transfers, so it might probably be sold only in China and Eastern Europe. So here’s the rest of the specs, a QVGA display with 262k colors, a 3.2MP autofocus camera, a microSD card slot (up to 8GB), an FM radio with RDS and Bluetooth connectivity. The DCP951/37 is the latest portable DVD player from Philips that provides a retractable iPod dock for iPod touch, nano and classic. Sadly, the player only supports 640 × 220 resolution, but at least it is able to handle majority of all standard video discs with an SD memory card slot to boot.
