
Philips has introduced the Econova LED TV, which has been awarded the European Green TV 2010-2011 award by the European Imaging & Sound Association. The 42-inch LED TV uses the latest LED technology that reduces energy consumption by up to 60 percent, while delivering the best-in-class picture quality. The LED TV also consumes just 40W of power in eco-mode. What’s more, the Econova LED TV also features a Zero Power Switch, which reduces power consumption to 0W when the TV is turned off. What makes the Philips Econova LED TV more interesting is that it comes equipped with the solar-powered remote control. Here’s a look at another upcoming LED-backlit monitor from Philips, the 226CL2. This new 21.5-inch widescreen monitor delivers 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 2ms (GTG) response time. What’s more, the monitor also makes use of the SmartImage technology that will automatically adjust its ‘performance’ depending on the content displayed (games and video). Philips comes back with another eco-friendly gadget in the form of the Wake-up Light Plus. This alarm clock wakes you up in a natural way, by light that increases gradually. Some scientists from Philips Research have successfully developed the first-ever organic light emitting diode (OLED) module that can be powered directly from a mains electricity supply. This new prototype opens the door to OLED systems that can be directly plugged into standard power outlets without the need for bulky power management circuitry. The Philips MCi900 and MCD900 SoundSphere Hi-Fi audio systems boast a 100W RMS output, an integrated DVD/CD player and a large color screen for easy navigation and showing your music playlists. Both models adopt the Streamium technology, allowing you to enjoy digital music from a USB hard drive. Philips today launched a new docking speaker system for iPad, iPhone and iPod that comes equipped with wireless Bluetooth streaming capabilities. Dubbed as the Philips Fidelio Speaker, the speaker system features a couple of 3-inch full range woofers that produce 2×15 Watts RMS stereo output. The Fidelio supports A2DP/AVRCP Bluetooth connectivity that can be used to playback music or game audio using the built-in Bluetooth capabilities on the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. The free Fidelio+ app is available to allow further customization of the speaker system directly from the iOS device including access to a five-band equalizer and customizable alarm settings with sleep timer and the ability to wake to music, nature sounds and/or photos. Philips is preparing to launch a new LCD monitor for the European market. Known as the 225PL2, this new 22-inch LED-backlight monitor makes use of PowerSensor technology that will automatically reduce monitor brightness when user steps away from the desk. On top of that, it also provides 1680 x 1050 native resolution, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. This widescreen monitor also comes with a number of connectivity ports including D-Sub, DVI-D, four USB 2.0 and audio in/out. Philips is gearing up to launch another eco-friendly LCD monitor into the market namely the 225B2. This new 22-inch widescreen monitor is compliant with Energy Star 5.0, RoHS and EPEAT Gold, and consumes just 22.5W during normal operation. In terms of performance, the 225B2 provides 1680 x 1050 native resolution, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
