
Designed by Pace but branded by Philips, the new HDT8520 Freeview HD recorder holds a powerful 500GB hard drive, which is good for 125 minutes of HD video. The gadget also supports 1080p HD up-scaling, and USB and Ethernet ports for enhanced connectivity. It has a cool DD5.1 audio support, parental locking, 8-day EPG and a good power consumption capacity of under 1W in standby mode. Additionally, Philips have also introduced a cool slim receiver called the DTR5520 HD receiver. The Philips HDT8520 HD recorder retails for £159 (around $238), while the DTR5520 HD receiver is priced at £299 (around $447). [TechRadar]

Philips hits back by bringing you their latest Full HD monitor, the 240B1CS. Aimed at office users, this new 24-inch widescreen monitor provides 1920 x 1200 Full HD resolution, 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness and consumes just 30.7W of power in ECO mode. Philips has recently unveiled the Immersive Sound home theatre system that consists of five satellites, a subwoofer, and a base unit. Each satellite speakers contains a trio of speakers, with one pointed forwards while the other two are angled to the left and to the right. The base unit also integrates a Blu-ray/DVD player, and has DLNA functionality allowing you to stream content from your PC. Amazon has started selling Philips’ latest portable speaker dock for your iPod or iPhone. Priced at $99.95, the Philips SBD7500/37 adopts the the built in wOOx bass radiator and dynamic bass boost technology to produce high quality sound. Designed for travel, the speaker dock also features a scratch resistant housing to make it more durable. Philips’ LivingColors v2 is 50% brighter than the previous version. Combining seven LEDs, the lighting system is able to display up to 16 million colors, letting you infinitely adjust the hues with which your environment is lit. The LivingColors v2 also offers an additional opaque version, concentrating all the light exactly where you point it. The Philips’ LivingColors LED lighting system is priced at between $230 and $350. Philips has rolled out their latest portable digital TV for the mass market. Dubbed as the PVD900/37, the device offers a 9-inch 600 x 220 TFT widescreen LCD display, a built-in HDTV/ATSC TV tuner, built-in 250mW speakers and a detachable antenna for free-to-air digital TV channel reception. The PET749 is Philips’ latest portable DVD player that comes with built-in TV receiver. Showcased during this year’s CES, this stylish portable device offers both free-to-air TV and DVD playback. It boasts a 7-inch TFT LCD screen and provides up to 3 hours of battery life for watching television, movies and listening to music on the go. The new Philips Activa is specially designed for those sporty individuals who get more of a rush out of jogging than sitting in front of their PCs. Philips has finally launched its Wireless HDTV Link in the US market. It is basically a wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver kit that comes with two HDMI and two component video inputs. The device allows you to replace all of your HD cables for set-top boxes, HD satellite receiver, Blu-ray player and gaming console with a single box that controls all of them through a wireless connection. Philips has introduced the latest addition to its LCD monitor range by releasing the Brilliance 225P1ES. This new 22-inch widescreen monitor offers a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, built-in two 1.5W speakers, plus D-Sub, DVI and USB connectors.
