
Most of us still rely on the DVD technology. Pioneer knows that and has decided to release two new DVD burners in the form of the DVR-2920Q internal DVD writer and DVR-X162Q external DVD writer. Both DVD burners adopt Qflix technology that allows users to download their favorite Hollywood productions and record them onto a DVD discs. No word on pricing so far. [Press Release]

Pioneer today introduced the next generation Blu-Ray disc that provides 400GB of storage capacity. It means that the disc can store sixteen 25GB Blu-Ray discs in one package. Pioneer also announced that this kind of Blu-Ray disc could effectively reduce the optical disc production and save resources. The picture above shows the new Blu-Ray disc that can store 500GB of data, however the announcement was about the 400GB version. [Ubergizmo]

Pioneer has rolled out not one but four new GPS navigation gadgets this week. Known as the HRZ099, HRZ088, HRV022, and HRV011, these gadgets share the same specifications including 40GB storage capacity, 1Seg TV, 7-Inch LCD Screen and can play WMA, MP3, AAC, and DivX file formats. These navigation systems are also compatible with the iPods. The Pioneer HRZ099 is the High-End model that comes equipped with a resolution of 800 x 480. Meanwhile, the Pioneer HRZ099 and HRZ088 are also equipped with a built-in Amplifier that produces a maximum output of 50W x 4ch. [Akihabara]

Pioneer will release the S-8EX and S-4EX Speaker series at the end of October 2008. The S-8EX is a 3-way center speaker that provides 2 x woofers 16cm, 14cm cone coaxial unit, and 3cm tweeter. Priced at €1500, the speaker produces a frequency range of 34Hz-100kHz, a sensitivity of 88.5dB (2.83V/1m), a frequency of 400 Hz, 2kHz, and an impedance of 6 ohm. Meanwhile, the Pioneer S-4EX retails for €2000. The speaker system provides a 16cm woofer, 14cm Middle and 3cm tweeter and has a frequency range of 34Hz-100kHz, a sensitivity of 85.5dB (2.83V/1m), a frequency of 400 Hz, and an impedance of 6 ohm. The Pioneer CLX50 earphones come equipped with flexible nozzles that allows you to move them in just about any direction you like for superior comfort. The 13.5mm driver provides 105 dB sensitivity, frequency response of 5Hz – 24,000Hz, and an impedance of 16 ohms. Pioneer today unveiled the brand new Series 8 speaker set, that consists of three variants including the Pioneer S-81C 3 way central speaker, the Pioneer S-81B-LR is a bookshelf speaker, and the Pioneer S-81 floor standing speaker. Pioneer’s Latest Blu-ray player specs have been leaked on the internet. The rumor has it that Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD will be the best Blu-ray player available in the market, surpassing even PS3 performance. The BDP-09FD is the first Pioneer unit to support Profile 2.0 and BD-Live with 4GB of internal storage. It will also cater for more conventional media, like CDs and DVDs, making it one single box for all. Each one of the units 7.1 analog outputs is equipped with their own digital to analog converters. Video comes by the way of one of the industry’s leading image processors and is fed over two HDMI 1.3a jacks. Pioneer has successfully developed a new 500GB optical disc that contains 25 layers and can be manufactured to function with Blu-ray players. You can store up to 20 full HD movies on a single disc with this 500GB optical disc. Unfortunately, it needs two or four years before this new optical disc is made available for customers. Pioneer will be dropping several Blu-ray players in Europes. The first being the 2.0-compliant BDP-LX91, Designer BDP-LX08 and BDP-LX71 and the BDP-51FD. All feature 1080p24 support, HDMI 12-Bit Deep Color support, KURO LINK, DTS-HD Master Audio / Dolby True HD compatibility and professional-quality Wolfson Digital Audio Converters (DACs).
