Buffalo has recently added a new storage capacity to its HD-PXU2 portable hard drive series by announcing the 1TB model. Dubbed as the HD-PX1.0TU2-BK, the drive is equipped with a shock resistant casing, a wrap-around USB 2.0 cable and an automatic hardware encryption for added data protection. The 1TB HD-PXU2 will start shipping at the end of this month for 25,300 Yen (about $273). [Buffalo]

Transcend has officially announced their newest 2.5-inch USB 3.0 portable hard drive, the StoreJet 25D3. Featuring a gloss piano finish, this new 500GB hard drive features a shock-absorbing technology, a USB 3.0/2.0 interface and promises to deliver transfer speeds of up to 90MB/s on USB 3.0. The StoreJet 25D3 will start shipping soon, however, there’s no word on pricing yet. [Transcend]

Western Digital has released a new series of portable hard drives for Mac computers, the My Passport SE. Available in both 750GB and 1TB sizes, these USB-powered hard drives feature 256-bit hardware encryption for an extra level of security and are compatible with the Apple Time Machine software. Measuring 110mm x 83mm x 18mm and weighing 190 grams, the 750GB and 1TB My Passport SE are priced at $179.99 and $199.99, respectively. [Press Release]

Verbatim Introduces Combo Portable Hard Drive

Verbatim is back by bringing you their new Combo Portable Hard Drive. Featuring a rugged aluminum enclosure, this 500GB hard drive offers both USB 2.0 and eSATA connectivity, and comes pre-installed with Nero BackitUp4 Essentials software. Measuring 130mm x 80mm x 17mm and weighing 205 grams, the Verbatim Combo Portable Hard Drive sells for 109 Euro (about $148). [Press Release]

Verbatim has unveiled their latest portable hard drives known as the Titan XS. Touted as the world’s smallest 2.5-inch portable hard drive, the drive features a rubber enclosure which is shock resistance, a USB connection interface and is bundled with backup software. The Verbatim Titan XS will become available in February in three different versions including 320GB ($100), 500GB ($130), 640GB ($160). [Web Tech Gadget News]

LaCie Rikiki Ultra-Compact 2.5-Inch Portable Hard Drive

LaCie has introduced its latest ultra-compact portable hard drive for the mass market, the Rikiki (‘tiny’ in French). Measuring only 4.3-inch x 2.9-inch x .5-inch, this 2.5-inch drive features a sturdy brushed aluminum exterior, a USB 2.0 interface and is compatible with both Macs and PCs. The Rikiki is currently available in 250GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities for $75, $110 and $150, respectively. [LaCie]

Verbatim 250GB 1.8-Inch Pocket Drive

Here’s the latest addition to Verbatim’s 1.8-inch portable hard drive line-up, the Pocket Drive. Measuring only 90mm x 64mm x 14mm and weighing just 85 grams, this compact and stylish HDD has a 250GB of storage space, a USB 2.0 interface and is bundled with Dmailer Backup Software and Verbatim Sync Software. Silicon Power Armor A50 Ultra Rugged Portable Hard Drive

Taiwanese manufacturer Silicon Power has released a new range of ultra rugged portable hard drives, the Armor A50. Coming in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities, these external HDDs feature an elegant aluminum construction and meet the military’s MIL-STD 810F standards for shock and drop resistance. They also offer a USB 2.0/1.1 interface, a OneTouch backup button that will backup and synchronize data instantly and come with a 60-day trial version of Norton Antivirus software.
