LaCie has recenty added a new member to its rugged portable HDD line-up by announcing the Rugged USB 3.0. Coming in 500GB capacity, this 2.5-inch drive comes with a USB 3.0/2.0 interface and promises to deliver transfer speeds of up to 110MB/s, which is three times the speed of USB 2.0. On top of that, the drive also features a unique scratch-resistant aluminum shell, internal anti-shock absorbers and a shock-resistant rubber bumper, and capable of resisting drops of up to 2.2 meters. Buffalo is about to release their newest portable hard drive ‘HD-PVRU2′ for the Japanese market. Adopting the Turbo USB technology, the drive features a rugged matte-finished exterior, a USB 2.0 interface and is bundled with eco Manager software for saving power.
