This stripe projection 3D sensor from Fraunhofer IOF helps compose a 3D model, simply by projecting a stripe pattern onto the subject, using the couple of “eyes” to capture slightly distinct angles of the image based on the deducted geometry. While this type of technology has been around for some time, it is now being put to use because of its capabilities especially for police officers, or in medicine. This by far is the nerdiest alarm clock I’ve ever seen! Astronomy has always been a cool hobby so why not put it in an alarm clock? This uber nerdy clock features a telescope, backlit amber LED display, projects the time on the wall as well as the ceiling along with images including the moon, starry sky, and Saturn. In addition, there’s three set alarm alerts such as ‘transport’, ‘ping’ or ‘analyze which are spaceship sounds. I bet all you guys are wondering where Captain Kirk is huh? This useful yet nerdy alarm clock is now available at the Discovery Channel Store for $30.
