Planar has finally gotten around to announcing the month of shipment of three of their projectors. The flagship PD8150, which features a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 1,000 ANSI lumens and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio will ship in early March for $7,999. While the $5,999 PD8130 will be coming in March as well.With the same resolution and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. You shouldn’t be disappointed, hopefully.

Sony VPL-VW40 HD Projector

The Sony VPL-VW40 is the latest video projector that has a Bravia engine for visual quality along with the Sony SXRD technology (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) among other features like a 15.000:1 contrast, 2.5ms of response and 22dB and HDMI plugs. No word on pricing or availability yet.

Mitsubishi’s XL1550U and XL2550U Projectors

Mitsubishi has broke out two new models of home projectors. The XL1550U and XL2550U which are more for home entertainment than anything, come with lots of features. The XL1550U features an XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, 3,100 ANSI lumens and a lamp life of up to 5,000 hours.While the XL2550U, has the same resolution but has up to 4,000 ANSI lumens, the new BrightEra LCD panels and a lamp good for 4,000 hours of use. Both will have side-loading lamps, built-in Ethernet ports for LAN asset management and an RS-232 port for third-party integration. Both of these will be available this month going for $3,995 and $4,495.

Sim2 Pro5000 HD Projector

This year, Sim2 has created a projector for more of the home cinema crowd. The Pro5000 projector rocks a 1080p resolution, EASYCINEMA color calibration, and adjustable, interchangeable projection lenses that enable the unit to work in different theater formats. Sim2 isn’t revealing dates or exact prices, but it’s sure to be pricey when released considering the specs are better than expected.

Teachers have just lucked out with receiving the ultimate projector with Epson. This model features WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, 1800 ANSI lumens, the ultra-short 1.8 feet throw distance as well as protection features including a Kensington lock slot, password protection, and a panel protection function. Now teachers wont have a need for those old fashioned projectors that give off lots of light practically blinding themselves and students. Unfortunately this model is only available in Europe at this time.

Toshiba developed an interesting projector that requires three feet to project a 60-inch image. The TDP-EW25U has a resolution of (1,280 x 800) and also features a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, DLP technology, 2,600 ANSI lumens, USB / RS-232 ports, integrated 802.11b/g WiFi, VGA, a built-in mono speaker and jacks for audio input. The price isn’t too great though. $2,369
