iPhone 3G Review

If you wonder why we’ve been quiet about all the iPhone 3G hype is because we were leaving that to the big guys.  While everybody was busy with the iPhone we kinda kicked it and found you some alternative news on other super cool gadgets.  But today we found that both Gizmodo and Engadget both wrote extensive reviews of this new kickass phone from Apple, so we thought we’d give you the heads up.

In a nutshell they both came up with similar conclusions.  Both aren’t too keen about the new polished black plastic backside and both have mixed feelings about the new App Store, how it refines applications but at the same time locks up wider possibilities; and they both love the 3G features and the upgraded location-aware functions.  I personally agree with them about the iPhone 3G being the most advanced touch based gadget (and OS) allowing you to scroll, pan, zoom, touch, pinch and dial through your contacts, music, photos, movies, maps, movies and more.  It’s probably the only gadget today doing so well in the touch interaction department that you will see many others following very soon.

Apple Aperture 1.5 - A Great Alternative to Photoshop

LetsGoDigital has a comprehensive review of the cutting edge Apple Aperture software. They are highly recommended the application. The Aperture is a great alternative to Photoshop because it has a complete set of tools when it comes to Black and White Photography and tasks like editing, toning, cropping. Here is the verdict.

One of Aperture’s main advantages is that the original files remain unaffected. You notice this if correcting pictures. You can go back a step easily and without loss of quality. The fact that changes are saved in small files and not via a copy of the photograph frees up a lot of disk space and enables you to work very quickly. Aperture asks a lot of the processor and memory. No problem with the latest Intel Macs. The program runs extremely quickly on the new Apple MacBook Pro and you won’t have to wait long, especially if you have the new Mac Pro desktop computer! It also works well on an older Powerbook, with a 1,5GHz G4 processor. I recommend working with two screens, as this increases productivity considerably. Raon Digital Vega UMPC on Video

Raon Digital Vega UMPC on Video

Here is the video preview of the Raon Digital Vega Mobile PC. Priced at $879, this toy provides a 4.3-inch TFT screen, 256MB of memory, and a 30GB HDD. UltraMobileGeek has a comprehensive review of this UMPC. See more pics and watch the video after the jump!

With those minimum requirements and pricing not more than US $600, the Vega could possibly take the portable computer market by storm. It will replace laptops, PDAs, stand-alone GPS devices, and portable media players. The current Vega is a good device for a niche market, but I hope Raon Digital stays with this idea and keeps this form factor alive.

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 65

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 65

TrustedReviews has a comprehensive review of Canon’s IXUS 65 (a.k.a. PowerShot SD630). Tiny enough to slip in your pocket, the camera provides a 6.0MP CCD with 3x optical zoom, a large 3.0-inch LCD display, and an SD card slot. Here is the verdict.

The Canon IXUS 65 is a potentially lovely little camera which could have been one of the best pocket compacts on the market, with great build quality, stunning performance, attractive but functional styling and good value for money, but sadly it is let down by a number of major image quality issues, especially high-ISO image noise.

Review of Kodak EasyShare C875

Review of Kodak EasyShare C875

PCmag has a deep comprehensive review about Kodak EasyShare C875 camera. This sleek camera features a 8.0MP CCD sensor, 5x Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon optical zoom lens, 32MB of internal memory, an SD/MMC card slot, and video recording capabilities (30fps @ 640 x 480). Here’s their final verdict:

In my experience, Kodak has consistently offered well-performing point-and-shoot devices, and I was happy to see very little noticeable shutter lag in the C875. Resolution averaged 1,850 lines, which is excellent for an 8MP camera. The bootup time was a respectable 3 seconds, and the 1.7-second recycle time was excellent. There was no pincushion distortion in my test shot, but there was a little more barrel distortion than I’d like to see, especially with just a 37mm wide-angle end of the zoom.
