
RIM has confirmed that they will be offering the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet through selected US and Canada retailers starting at $199 for the holiday season. This offer will be available for a limited time. Research In Motion (RIM) has decided to recall approximately 1000 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. These tablets were shipped with an OS build that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up. BestBuy has begun taking pre-orders for RIM’s upcoming tablet ‘BlackBerry PlayBook’ via its online store. The device is being sold for $499.99 (16GB model), $599.99 (32GB) and $699.99 (64GB model), respectively. Word has it that RIM will introduce the new BlackPad tablet in November 2010. The gadget is powered by an operation system that is specifically developed by QNX Software Systems. QNX is a company acquired by RIM in April 2010 and specializes in communication systems for navigation of the car. Still remember the BlackBerry Tablet that we mentioned in May 2010? Ashok Kumar, an analyst and managing director at Rodman & Renshaw, speculates that this portable gadget will feature a 7-inch touchscreen display with a couple of cameras and a 1GHz processor from Marvell. One possible chip candidate is the Marvell 1GHz Armada 610 processor, which is aimed at tablets, mobile Internet devices, and e-readers. Antoine Boucher, vice president of RIM has confirmed in the conference WES about the upcoming BlackBerry Bluetooth headset code named as Alpha 1 and the developments going on for the Bluetooth watch. The Alpha 1 will come in a black chrome shell and will provide noise reduction technology to help you hold a decent conversation even when outside. Other features include BlackBerry phone support, alerting you whenever you receive emails, BlackBerry Messenger messages, texts, Tweets and Facebook wallposts.
