Sega Toys has just released a new robot toy, called Ema (Eternal Maiden Actualization). It has the abilities to sing, dance and walk like a lady. Not only that, the robot can actually KISS you. It features infrared sensors allowing it to avoid obstacle, and moves its elbows, shoulders, waist, and knees. Available September 26th in Japan for a cost around 110€ ($175). [Gizmodo]

Kozirou and Kotarou humanoid robots were developed by the University of Tokyo. The Kozirou is actually an update version of Kotarou who is standing next to it. The Kozirou has motors in place of joints which give it a more human like movement and is able to walk. [Newlaunches]

Roboticist Steve Yohanan has created the cute Haptic Creature that looks like a brown bunny. The robot relies on a touch feedback as its only way of communicating. It has pressure sensors all around its body and will be able to sense how it is touched or stroked, responding appropriately by making breathing-like motions, ear wiggles or purring vibrations. The Kanagawa institute introduced the air powered full body suit at the Fluid Power International trade fair in Tokyo. The robot is using AI technology to understand the needs of the users and automatically adjusts itself. Its Ni-MH batteries provide 20 minutes of operating time. The Forest Fire Clear Cut Robot is a concept robot to fight future forest fires. It has all the necessary tools to slice trees down to prevent the flames from spreading any further in the forest. The model has 600 parts and took its creator half a year to complete. [Gizmodo]

The black Sony Rolly is now official. Sony will release this egg-shape portable audio player in the Japanese market. In case you didn’t know, the Rolly is a kind of wireless speaker/audio player with 1GB of internal memory. You can actually interact with it and select the tracks you want to listen to. This autonomous audio player has a battery life of 5 hours when it plays music from its internal memory and 4 hours 30 minutes if the music is streamed to the Rolly via Bluetooth connection. The ApriPoko robot from Toshiba was developed to learn how to operate various remote controls by watching and asking questions. The robot features sensors that will be able to detect infrared rays coming out from the remote, so each time you press a button, ApriPoko will ask “What did you just do?”, so make sure you answer appropriately because it records your answer to its memory.
