Most of us hate cockroaches. That’s right! You’re crazy if you love them. Jose Halloy and some colleagues at the Free University of Brussels have created tiny robots that act like Pied Pipers and can trick roaches to follow them. These robots were sprayed with a little bit of roach scent and programmed to choose crowds over darkness, and the roaches automatically followed the robot wherever it went, making them easy pickings. Now that’s cool!

Sanyo will released next year in Japan its conceptual robot that can inspect the foundations of homes for structural damage and dirt. Known as the Yuka shita Inspection Robot, the robot will retail for less than $8,850.
The Gojic racer from Esukeipan Japan has an extension kit which gives the robot the ability to transform into a car. I can say this robot is a Japanese version of Bumblebee robot. It will be available in Japan from November for $300 with the add on kit selling for $72.
Honda of Japan introduced its robotic leg which is using technologies developed during the design of ASIMO. The device’s purpose is to aid people with walking problems. It can learn how the user walks and assist with its electric motors. This is an interesting idea.
Some Chinese dudes are inspired by Michael Bay’s new movie and decided to create their own Autobot X2 “Bumblebee”. The “robot” was made of Citroen C2 and weights at approx. 1,400 pounds. It costs for around $8000. Too bad this Bumblebee doesn’t really transform.
Some researchers at Kanagawa Institute of Technology in Japan have managed to develop an Air Pressure Robot Suit for the elderly. Using this device, elderly people can lift up a heavy object. FYI, this suit is targeted at nursing homes and hospitals.

Technische Universität Darmstadt, a German university, is working on an Aibo-like robot that will features an open-source software development kit (SDK).
