Canon introduced its latest all-in-one Pixma printers on Monday, August 11, the Pixma MP480 and Pixma MP190. These printers/scanners/copyer include several new features that simplify the printing, scanning, and copying processes. The $70 Pixma MP190 has maximum resolution of 4,800×1,200dpi. It uses two ink four-color cartridges. Another MP190′s unique feature is the Z-Lid that allows you to pull the lid over thick documents. The $100 Pixma MP480 has similar features with better scanning resolution at Optical: 2400 x 4800 dpi which is 4x the MP190 version, it prints slightly faster, and it incorporates a large 1.8-inch TFT color display. Epson has introduced a brand new printer on the Stylus series called NX400. It is a 3-in-1 product that can work as a printer, photocopier and scanner. One of the cool features is that you don’t need to use a computer in order to print, because it works with memory cards and a PictBridge port. The print preview can be seen on 2.5-inch LCD screen, and thanks to the photo correction software you can make a few changes before pressing the “Print” button. As for the speed of pages per minute, in black and white it can handle 34 pages. As for colorful photos in a 4×6-inch format, the timing is set to 26 seconds. Fujitsu has just dropped the new ScanSnap S300M for Mac. It converts up to 8 doubled sided pages per minute into PDF files and USB powered. It has support for Mac OS® X Leopard™ and comes with the Cardiris software for business card scanning.The Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M will be available for $295 after March 15th.

The Japanese really have an effective way of checking for body fat besides scales. With the Tanita AB-101 belly fat scanner by laying down on a comfortable surface and letting it check for you simply in under a minute (30 seconds). It’s powered by an AC adapter complete with a rechargable battery. The Tanita drops in Japan February 2008 for $2650, I wonder if it’s worth it, keep in mind that the cute girls doesn’t come with it, dream on guys.

Sharp has recently unveiled a new digital full-color compound machine MX-4500DS printer. It is able to print pictures on A 4 glossy paper with “poster print function”. This machine can be used as a copier and a scanner. No further info on this device so far. So stay tuned for more updates.

Fujitsu has rolled out the ScanSnap S300 ultra-compact scanner. Measuring at just 11.2″ x 3.7″ x 3.0″ and weighing at 3.1lbs, this gadget is touted as the “world’s smallest” color, duplex automatic document feeder (ADF) scanner. The USB 2.0 powered scanner scans at speeds of up to 8 pages per minute for single-sided documents and 16 images per minute for double-sided documents at 600dpi optical resolution. The Fujitsu ScanSnap S300 scanner will be available in November 21 for $295.
