Seagate today launched their latest BlackArmor series of network attached storage (NAS) devices. Known as the BlackArmor NAS 440 and 420, these servers come with hardware encryption and comes with a software that can automate the backup of your computers. Seagate is famous for its storage solutions. The company today introduced its new Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD media player at CES. This gadget is specially build to work with FreeAgent Go portable hard drive and offers a complete home theater solution. Using this HD media player, you are able to enjoy stored digital media on their TVs directly. All you need to do is place the media player beside your TV, and then insert a FreeAgent Go hard drive, make your selection and enjoy your movies. Seagate rolled out latest FreeAgent Go external hard drives that come in several new colors. I think the company wants to attract holiday shoppers. The hard drives are still available in the same 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB capacities for $120, $150, and $200, respectively. The Savvio is a the upcoming 10K.3 hard drive from Seagate. Available in 320GB storage capacity, the Savvio is claimed to be the “world’s highest-capacity” small form factor 2.5-inch enterprise hard drive for enterprise servers and storage arrays. The device boasts 70% lower power and greater than 60% performance density over traditional 3.5-inch drives. It is also the industry’s first 2.5-inch self-encrypting enterprise drive with government-grade Full Disk Encryption (FDE) data protection. Seagate will be releasing an external HDD “designed” to extend storage capacity of DVRs and media centers. The HDDs are said to be “compatible with Motorola’s s-SATA-capable HD DVRs,” along with USB 2.0 ports and up to 1TB of storage. [Engadget]
Seagate has announced that they will be dropping their new Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini 250GB HDD in Korea. It features automated backup, Maxtor’s safety drill, sync, data encryption, drive pass, manager UI, and auto software updater. The OneTouch runs on Windows vista and has USB 2.0 connectivity, as well as a 5-year warranty and is BUS powered. $207
The Seagate FreeAgent Go Small is a tiny little USB hard drive that offers 12GB of storage capacity. It is similar with the Mini Cube that we reported several days ago. The hard drive also provides a swivel-out USB connector. The FreeAgent Go Small retails for $143.99 with 5 year warranty.
