Still remember the Seiko active-Matrix EPD watch that we mentioned in April 2010, the company has decided to release this watch in Japan during holiday season. Available in silver, gold and black, the watch comes equipped with a 300dpi EPD (Matrix Electrophoretic) display that boasts a 180-degree of viewing angle, a world time capability (32 cities) with automatic synchronized via radio signal and a stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal. There is also a built-in solar panel, offering about 30 months of display time on a full charge. The Seiko active-Matrix EPD watch retails for between 94,500 Yen ($1,127) to 105,000 Yen ($1,253). SEIKO is back again with the world’s first new generation watch which employs Active Matrix EPD technology. With 80,000 pixels, each capable of displaying four levels of gray, each information item on the screen is rendered 3 times finer than anything you can find on conventional LCD watches. It allows figures, text and graphics to appear more fluid and offers more freedom in programmability. The new technology brings an entirely new kind of display which is ultra-thin, with high contrast, allowing higher legibility from almost 180 degree angle on your wrist. No more “Hey mister what time you got there?” because they can just see it from distance away. All that cool while consuming very little power. [E-Ink Info]
