
Sierra Wireless has unveiled a pair of new WiFi hotspots at MWC 2011 in Barcelona. Known as the AirCard 753S and 754S, both wireless devices are made to be lightweight for portability. The AirCard 753S and 754S feature an LCD screen that shows at battery life, network strength and the connection status. These gadgets also have audible alerts for status of the device and more. The difference between the two devices is that the 754S supports 4G LTE networks and the 753S is a 3G only device. The AirCard 753S is perfect for up to 42Mbps download and 5.76Mbps upload on DC-HSPA+ networks, while the 754S is good for up to 100Mbps download and up to 50Mbps upload on LTE networks. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 890 will be available on May 5th, 2010 for AT&T users. The wireless device is designed to support both PC Card and ExpressCard slots. The AirCard 890 is compatible with HSPA 7.2 technology, offering built-in GPS functionality so that you can use the company’s TeleNav Track LITE or Xora GPS Locator services. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 890 will be available for $49.99 after mail-in rebate with a two-year DataConnect contract of at least $35 a month (pay $149.99 and after mail-in rebate receive $100 AT&T Promotion Card. AT&T has started selling the Sierra Wireless USBConnect Lightning modem that supports the carrier’s faster 7.2Mbps HSPA network. AT&T sells the USBConnect Lightning for $100 with a minimum $35 monthly data plan, although they will return $100 in the form of a debit card rebate which means the modem is free. The $35 plan provides 200MB a month but coexists alongside the existing $60, 5GB service. [Engadget]

The USB 306 and the USB 307 are two new USB modem for HSPA+ networks from Sierra Wireless. These modems sport up to download speeds of 21 megabits per second (Mbps) and uplink at 5.76 Mbps. The Sierra Wireless USB 306 and USB 307 modems are expected to ship within the first half of this year. For your info, the USB 306 is designed for North American and Asia-Pacific regions, operating on the 850, 1900 and 2100 MHz bands, and the USB 307 is perfect for Europe, operating on the 900 and 2100 MHz bands. Sprint has recently rolled out the Sierra Wireless Mobile Broadband USB Modem 598U. This EV-DO Rev. A-compatible device boasts an average download speeds of between 600 kbps and 1.4 Mbps, while upload speeds average 350 to 500 kbps. The 598U is also compatible with EV-DO Rev. 0 and 1XRTT technology and provides an integrated GPS receiver, and a microSDHC memory card slot (up to 32GB).
