
LG has announced a new business-oriented smartphone at CommunicAsia 2009. Dubbed as the GW550, the phone comes in a candybar form-factor and features front-facing QWERTY keyboard, that reminds me of the Nokia E71x. The LG GW550 also has a non-touch-sensitive 2.4-inch display with QVGA resolution, a 3MP camera, stereo speakers, HSDPA 7.2Mbps (HSUPA 2.0Mbps) connectivity and 1300mAh battery. Samsung Korea today released in Singapore the B7610 smartphone. It is a WinMo PocketPC with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash, HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, an FM radio, and a microSD slot (with support for up to 32GB). The company also released the Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 12MP camera phone, the Samsung Jackie B7320, and the Android powered Samsung I7500. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing so far. More

Acer has showed off its latest smartphone at Computex 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan. The Acer M900 comes equipped with a finger recognition function, a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, and a QWERTY keyboard. The handset also supports e-mail and internet access. More

The unlocked version of HTC Touch Pro2 is now available in the States. This Symbian S60-powered smartphone is available via Orange for a reasonable £97.50($151) on a £35($54) monthly plan. AT&T has rolled out the new Windows Mobile-powered smartphone for its customer. Known as the Samsung a167, the cell phone is categorized under the GoPhone family, allowing you to pay-as-you-go. The handset features dual-band GSM/GPRS connectivity (850/1900 MHz), a 128 x 160 internal CSTN display, web browser, a 2MB internal memory and a VGA camera. The phone is also cheap. LG and Verizon Wireless have joined to release the new LG Versa on March 1st, 2009. The Versa comes with a 3-inch touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard for everybody who doesn’t like typing on a touchscreen. There are also a 2.0MP shooter with face detection, microSD card slot (up to 16GB extra memory), a 2.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, EV-DO Rev. A, Flash support for the full HTML browser and a built-in accelerometer. This smartphone is also compatible with Verizon’s Mobile Broadband Connect, which allows you to use your phone as a modem when connected to a laptop. There are also a 32GB built-in memory and additional 16GB microSD card. The N97 features GPS, HSDPA, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, a 5MP camera with dual LED flash, and a USB 2.0 port.
