Sony has started taking pre-orders for the Sony Tablet S via its own online store and other retailers. The tablet will ship on September 16, 2011 in the US. Sony today unveiled its newest home projector at the IFA conference in Berlin. Known as the Sony VPL-VW95ES, this projector is actually a successor to the VPL-VW90ES, which was announced last September. Based on the new dynamic lamp control technology, the new Sony VPL-VW95ES brings 3D film to life with vivid, crisp, bright and vibrant imagery that will satisfy the greatest film enthusiast’s desires. This projector is equipped with Sony’s Advanced Iris 3 technology which includes a contrast enhancer to maximize the dynamic contrast ratio when used with the iris, giving viewers a crisper and brighter final image. Sony Optiarc is set to drop their newest 6x external Blu-ray writer for the European market later this month. Dubbed as the BDX-S600U, this slim drive is equipped with two built-in USB 2.0 cables, a 5.8MB of buffer memory and capable of providing write speeds of up to 6x for BD-R (SL/DL), 4x for BD-R XL, 2x for BD-RE, 8x for DVD-R/+R and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-R/+R DL and DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 24x for CD-R and 16x for CD-RW. Sony will release the world’s first wireless headphones to offer digital surround sound capabilities. Known as the Sony MDR-DS7500, these headphones feature the company’s latest audio processing chip, which is able to provide support for up to 7.1 channel audio and Dolby ProLogic II z decoder support for surround sound reproduction. Its integrated battery offers up to 18-hour of continuous listening time. The Sony MDR-DS7500 wireless 7.1 channel headphones will be released in Japan this October for 50,000 Yen ($651). Sony Japan has introduced a new fancy gadget namely the Sony SRF-18. It is actually a combination of an FM/AM tuner with a built-in speaker. Measuring 155.4mm x 34.2mm x 80.3mm and weighing 198 grams, the Sony SRF-18 has a couple of 80mW speakers and basic radio recording features. The gadget draws its power from two AA batteries, offering up to 47-hour of continuous listening time.
