
Sony has introduced its first external hard drive, the HD-PG5. The storage device provides a 500GB of storage on a 2.5-inch disk, while enabling users to connect devices via USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 interface. The device also allows you to record HD content directly from your Bravia TV. The Sony HD-PG5 500GB external hard drive is expected to ship in the UK, France and Germany later this month. Sony today introduced two new G Series micro Hi-Fi systems for the European market. Known as the CMT-G2BNiP and the CMT-G1iP, both models have been crafted to deliver a sound quality to impress even the most demanding audio enthusiast. The Sony CMT-G2BNiP and the CMT-G1iP support a USB playback, an enhanced MP3 playback, an FM radio, Wi-Fi and a DAB radio. These G-series micro Hi-Fi systems also use the geometric grounding technology to minimize amplifier distortion. No word on pricing or availability so far. [Akihabara]

Here is the first teaser video of the Sony S1 tablet. The tablet features a 9.4-inch display with both front- and rear-facing cameras and a curved wrap design that resembles a folded magazine. Sony is ready to launch two new portable DVD players in Japan. The 9-inch DVP-FX970 and 7-inch DVP-FX750 come equipped with a 12Bit 108MHz Video D/A converter and 96kHz 24Bit Audio D/A converter. Both portable DVD players also support MP3 and JPEG files, which are stored in a CD. What’s more, the Sony DVP-FX970 has a 180 degrees swivel display. The Sony DVP-FX970 and DVP-FX750 will be launched in July 2011 for 30,000 ($374) and 20,000 Yen ($248). [Sony Japan]

Sony Japan today unveiled the VPL-HW30ES SXRD 3D projector, which comes with significantly reduced 3D Crosstalk thanks to the 240Hz SXRD panel drive system. The projector features a 70,000:1 contrast ratio, a 1,300 lumens of brightness and picture adjustment settings. It will work with Sony’s active shutter 3D glasses which are newer and lighter. Sony today introduced a budget 3D display in the form of the CECH-ZED1. The 24-inch 3D display provides a Full HD resolution with a 4ms response time, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, a pair of HDMI ports and a built-in Stereo system. Sony Japan has announced more details about the Nav-u NV-U37 waterproof GPS navigator. For your info, the gadget features a 3.5-inch (320 x 240) display screen, an 8GB of onboard memory which is expandable via a memory card slot. The battery provides enough juice for up to 9-hour of navigation. Available in White, Black or Yellow, the Sony Nav-u NV-U37 will be available in Japan next month for 38,780 Yen (around $500). Sony today launched the latest version of the Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX card with data transfer speeds of up to 50MB/sec. It is 1.6x faster than the previous version of Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX card. The company also claims that the new memory card is quicker than today’s fastest commercially available UHS-I SD cards when used in Sony cameras. Sony today introduced the new PSP-branded in-ear headphones series. These headphones provide 100dB/mW output at 16 Ohms and use Neodymium magnets to provide a strong bass tone to complement a relatively crisp treble output. A 3.5mm stereo plug enables them to be used with almost any of today’s portable audio devices.
