Yamaha Electronics Corporation, just yesterday introduced the YAS-71 AIR SURROUND XTREME front surround system. The system comprises of a slim front surround module, which can be neatly mounted underneath a flat panel display or on a shelf without disturbing room aesthetics, and a powered subwoofer, both with stylish, compact designs and glossy black finishes. Yamaha’s proprietary 24kHz HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) surround technology allows listeners to hear clear dialogue and other sounds from the front, specific sounds from the other channels to the sides and rear, and smooth audio movement all around them. The YAS-71 is fully compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II to provide surround sound from all sources. It currently retails at suggested price of $599.95. Niro is using geometry to introduce their new 5.1 ch spherical surround system. The audio system features a subwoofer, base speaker, top speaker and built-in amplifier. The base speaker offers 3 drivers of 90mm, an impedance of 9Ω, and an output power of 30Wx3, while the top speaker features 2 drivers of 60mm an impedance of 8Ω, and an output power of 30Wx2. Lastly, the subwoofer features a driver of 200 mm, an impedance of 6Ω and an output power of 50W.
