Japan Trust Technology has rolled out the Puppy speakers (codenamed WONSPUSB) that connect to the PC via USB port. The speaker is located in the abdomen of “the dog”, that boasts an output of 2watts x 2ch. Designer Philippe Starck and Parrot have collaborated to release a home sound system designed specifically for iPod, iPhone and other digital audio sources. Dubbed as the Zikmu, this speaker system features a pair of 2.5-foot tall black columns each reminiscent of the business-end of a trumpet. Starck ships the system in a recyclable package that’s designed to look like a certain brass musical instrument’s carrying case. The Zikmu system can also stream stream music from any PC or Mac over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth A2DP wireless technology. Its class-D amplifier is rated at 100W RMS, and the speakers can output frequencies from 50Hz up to 20kHz, so don’t expect a really deep bass boom. Measuring 206 x 77 x 63 mm and weighing just 506 grams, this speaker is capable of delivering an output of 5 watts and has a battery life for 30 hours of playback. VIV Audio Lab will launch the Evanui u omnidirectional speaker in Japan. This high-end speaker features a newly developed 5cm FDM driver technology (Floating Diaphragm Mechanism) and delivers a maximum output of 100watts with an impedance of 8 Ohms and 80Hz-30kHz frequencies.
