
Patriot Memory is back with its new line of SSDs, the PS-100. Available in capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB, these 2.5-inch drives feature a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, a 64MB of cache memory, a MTBF of 2.5 million hours and provide read and write speeds of up to 210MB/s and 150MB/s, respectively. Remember the OCZ Colossus SSDs that we mentioned back in July? OCZ has finally announced the availability of these 3.5-inch SSDs in the US market. Coming in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities, these SSDs are based on MLC NAND flash memory chips and feature a SATA-II 3.0 Gbps interface, a 128MB of cache memory, dual controllers, a MTBF of 1.5 million hours and provide read/write speeds of up to 260/260 MB/s. PhotoFast has announced a new series of 1.8-inch SSDs by unveiling the G-Monster V4. Coming in capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB, these drives are available in three different versions, either with 40-pin ZIF, 44-pin IDE or 50-pin IDE connection interface. They also feature MLC NAND flash memory chips, a 64MB of cache memory, an active garbage collection function and provide read and write speeds of up to 128MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively. Taiwan-based Team Group has announced a new series of solid state drives, the P2 IDE. Coming in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities, these 2.5-inch drives feature an IDE interface, MLC NAND flash memory chips, a MTBF of 2 million hours and provide read/write speeds of up to 80/50 MB/s for the 32GB model or 60/40 MB/s for both 64GB and 128GB models. A-DATA has quietly released the industry’s fastest 2.5-inch solid state drive in the form of the A-SATA S596. It features 250MB/s read speed and 180MB/s write speed, which is perfect for business users. The drive is also able to boot a Windows 7-based computer in less than 20-seconds. Kingston has once again expanded its SSD line-up with the all new Kingston SSDNow V Series 40GB. Coming in 40GB capacity, this 2.5-inch drive is based on MLC NAND flash memory chips and provides read and write speeds of up to 170MB/s and 40MB/s, respectively. The drive also features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and a MTBF of 1 million hours. Active Media has announced a new series of Predator X7 SSDs. Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, these 2.5-inch pocket-sized SSDs are based on MLC NAND flash memory chips and provide read and write speeds of up to 230MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. They also feature an 8-channel JM612 controller, a SATA-II 3.0 Gbps interface, a128MB of cache memory and a mini USB 2.0 port. The Predator X7 will start shipping in November for $149 (32GB), $219 (64GB), $349 (128GB) and $699 (256GB), respectively. [Active]

Dane-Elec has unveiled a series of external hard drives, the So SuperSpeed HDDs and SSDs, that will support the upcoming USB 3.0 standard. These storage devices will provide data transfer speeds of up to 250MBps, which is roughly ten times the rate available in current USB 2.0 devices. The So SuperSpeed drives consist of USB 3.0 HDDs which range in capacity of 500GB to 2TB and come in 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch formats, along with 80GB and 160GB SSDs that have been re-branded as Intel M-25 drives. If your computer doesn’t have an integrated USB 3.0 port, then you can use the Dane-Elec USB 3.0 adapters for PCIe or ExpressCard slots. The So SuperSpeed drives will be released on December 11th, coinciding with the launch of USB 3.0-compatible laptops and PCs. The 500GB HDD is priced at $180. Super Talent has rolled out its new UltraDrive GX series of SSDs. This new 2.5-inch drive is offered in two different versions: SLC and MLC. The SLC version is available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB sizes, and provides read/write speeds of up to 260/210 MB/s. While, the MLC version adds a 256GB model to its range and provides read/write speeds of up to 260/200 MB/s. These drives also features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and a 64MB of cache memory. OCZ has added a new member to its PCI-E SSD series by announcing the Z-Drive m84. Available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, these SSDs feature MLC NAND flash memory chips, a PCIe x8 interface, an onboard RAID controller, a MTBF of over 1 million hours and provide read/write speeds of 870/780 MB/s for the 1GB and 512GB models, and 750/650 MB/s for the 256GB model.
