Super Talent has launched a new series of co-branded Toshiba SSDs, the UltraDrive DX. Coming in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities, these 2.5-inch drives provide a reading speed up to 230MB/s and a writing speed up to 180MB/s. They also feature MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory chips, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and a MTBF of over 1 million hours. Active Media Products has announced a new series of SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external SSDs, the Aviator 312. Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, these pocket-sized SSDs are based on MLC NAND flash memory and provide read and write speeds of 240MB/s and 160MB/s, respectively. These drives are also backwards-compatible and will work in any USB 2.0 or 1.1 port. Super Talent will launch a new RAIDDrive SSD series in October 2009. Measuring 258mm x 112mm x 25 mm, the RAIDDrive uses PCIe Gen. 2.0 x8 interface allowing the drive to provide sequential read speeds of up to 1.4GB/sec and sequential write speeds of up to 1.2GB/sec. Available in three models, the ES model is aimed at enterprise users, while the WS version is aimed at workstation users, and the GS version is aimed at gamers. OCZ has expanded its solid state drive range by releasing the Agility EX series of SSDs. This new 2.5-inch 60GB drive is based on SLC (single-level cell) NAND flash memory chips and features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, a 64MB of onboard cache, an Indilinx Barefoot controller, a MTBF of 1.5 million hours, and provides maximum read and write speeds of 255MB/s and 195MB/s, respectively. Here’s the latest member to Corsair’s Extreme Series SSD line-up, the X256. This new 2.5-inch drive is based on Samsung’s MLC NAND flash memory and features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, a 64MB of cache memory, an Indilinx Barefoot controller, and provides maximum read and write speeds of 240MB/s and 170MB/s, respectively. Patriot Memory has unveiled a new series of 2.5-inch Solid State Drives (SSD) for Mac users. Named Koi, these drives come in 128GB and 256GB sizes and feature a 64MB of cache memory, a SATA 3.0 Gbps connection interface, a MTBF of over 2.5 million hours, 260MB/s read speeds and 180MB/s write speeds. Available in 64GB and 128GB storage capacities, these 2.5-ich drives provide a reading speed up to 125MB/s and a writing speed up to 100MB/s. They also feature a SATA II interface, a 64MB of onboard cache and a unique performance optimization to keep the drives at peak performance. No details on pricing and availability just yet. Kingston has announced a new line-up of solid state drives, the SSDNow V+. Available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB sizes, these 2.5-inch drives are based on MLC NAND flash memory and provide a reading speed up to 220MB/s and a writing speed up to 180MB/s, and use a SATA/SATA II interface. OCZ has finally announced the price tag and the release date of their upcoming OCZ Colossus 1TB SSD. It will start shipping in mid August for a retail price of $2,500. As a reminder, the drive comes in a 3.5-inch format and provides a reading speed up to 250MB/s and a writing speed up to 220MB/s. [OCZ via Ubergizmo]
OCZ’s new Colossus SSD drive was debuted at Computex last month. Available in capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB, all of the drives come in a 3.5-inch enclosure that sports two RAIDed SSD drives mounted to a single PCB.
