Fujitsu introduced its 5400 RPM external hard disk drives at 2009 CES. Dubbed as the HandyDrive MMH2 UB series, the device is available in capacities of 500GB, 400GB, 320GB and 250GB in a portable 2.5-inch design. Measuring 137.5mm x 83.5mm x 15mm, the drive also comes with a software that allows users to manage partitions, a password lock tool that protects data if a drive is lost or stolen, and Acronis True Image Personal HDD software, which provides fast and easy data backup. SanDisk showed off its 64GB ultra backup USB flash drive at 2009 CES. The drive adopts the patent-pending backup technology with up to 64GB of storage capacity. The SanDisk 64GB is perfect for backup purpose. The new SanDisk USB flash drives will first become available in April 2009. The SanDisk Cruzer drive will be available in capacities of 4GB-32GB with MSRPs ranging between $24.99 and $99.99. Buffalo is famous for its external hard drive series. The company comes back with the new MiniStation Cobalt shock-resistant hard drives. Available in 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, or 500GB storage capacities, the drives come in three different colors. The MiniStation Cobalt hard drives are priced from $80 to $170, depending on the storage capacity. Iomega’s Home Media Network Hard Drive has been released. What makes this small network attached storage cool is that it can stream multimedia content to DLNA devices including Sony PlayStation, and some HDTVs. You can easily backup data with Retrospect, a known software from Iomega’s parent company EMC. The Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive can also serve as a USB printer server via USB port. LaCie has released the first 1U rack-mounted NAS that offers a huge 6TB of storage space. The new NAS is being targeted toward small and medium-sized businesses. The company also announced that the LaCie 6TB 1U is first Apple Time Machine-compatible professional NAS on the market and will be accompanied by both Genie and Intego Backup Manager Pro to schedule file backup and computer recovery.
