Meade ETX-LS Telescope

Meade Instruments will introduce the Meade ETX-LS Telescope at the next year’s CES. Unfortunately, there is no further info about the pricing. The company claims that the telescope is set to “change the face of backyard astronomy as we know it”. It has a database of over 30,000 celestial objects and automatically selects the best objects in the sky for that particular time and location. All you need is a clear night, a dark sky and a little curiosity. [Product Page]

CPC 1100 GPS XLT GPS Telescope

The CPC 1100 GPS XLT is a diffraction limited Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope which is priced at a hefty $2899. Yeah, it’s not cheap. The CPC 1100 GPS offers a database of over 40,000 objects. It is also fully computerized with the Proven NexStar computer control technology. The telescope has high-end features including hibernate which allows the telescope maintain its star alignment night after night without needing to be re-aligned. The CPC Series’ internal GPS receiver automatically downloads the date and time from orbiting satellites and pinpoints its exact location on Earth. This eliminates the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude and latitude.
