
TomTom today unveiled a new dedicated GPS navigation device, the Go Live 1535M. The gadget aims to provide the best navigation experience through comprehensive road and traffic information from its TomTom HD Traffic service with real-time updates as well as to provide convenient access to travel-related apps. The TomTom GO LIVE 1535M supports several apps including Yelp, TripAdvisor, Expedia, and Twitter. These apps allow you to access travel information while on-the-road, such as finding hotel availability, reading restaurant reviews, and discovering other points of interest. In addition, there are also apps for checking nearby fuel prices, speed cameras, and weather as well as a Google Local Search app. Other specs include a voice recognition with one-step address entry, a Bluetooth hands-free calling, a 5-inch touchscreen display, an integrated mount with flip-screen, an advanced lane guidance, and spoken street names. TomTom will release the Go Live 800 GPS navigator series in Europe. The series consists of the Go Live 820 and Go Live 825. The former comes equipped with a 4.3-inch display screen, while the latter has a bigger 5-inch display screen. Both models feature Bluetooth connectivity and a voice command recognition. TomTom has announced the release of its High Speed Multi-Charger, the company’s first charging solution that can charge up to three devices simultaneously and up to four times faster than other chargers. Along with a 1.2 Amp USB charging port for mobile phones or MP3 players, there is also a 2.1 Amp port to speed charge power-hungry USB devices, such as the iPad or iPhone. Nike and TomTom have collaborated to create the ultimate running watch, the Nike+ SportWatch GPS. The watch records your performance with a simplistic interface combined with accurate pace and distance data aided by TomTom’s GPS technology. The watch is compatible with both Mac and PC platforms. Both GPS navigation systems adopt the capacitive touch screen technology that allows you to navigate through menu screens with just a swipe of the finger. TomTom today unveiled the TomTom Start2, which is actually the first entry-level GPS navigation system that supports Lane Assist and text-to-speech for spoken street names. The Lane Assist shows several graphical indicators on the display to show you which lane to take. The Start2 will be available in April 2010.
