
Sharp Japan today introduced the i3board PN-L702B for the Japanese market. This electronic whiteboard is actually a 70-inch touchscreen LCD display that comes equipped with a Stylus pen and special software, enabling users to make notes or draw on the screen, scroll or change the size of objects by using gestures. Designed for use at offices and schools, the whiteboard can be used to display any type of content (including video) transferred to it from a Windows XP/Vista/7 PC (via USB) or directly from the web via the LAN port. The i3board PN-L702B display also supports a full HD resolution, a LED backlight, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, a 300cd/m2 brightness, and an HDMI port. The Sharp i3board PN-L702B will be launched on September 20, 2011 for $9,700. A smaller (60-inch) model will retail for $7,100. [TechCrunch]

Designer Min Kong has created the Flat-Fold digital faucet that uses a capacitive touch sensitive panel and a fold out design to function. Its intuitive touch-sensitive panel allows you to customize water flow, pressure or temperature with a simple touch. The Flat-Fold is a cool concept that will hopefully hit the light of production. Ekoore today introduced a new touchscreen tablet namely the Python. The gadget is powered by either the Microsoft Windows 7 or Linux Ubuntu OS, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor and an Intel GMA 3150 graphics. The Python also features a solid state disk, three USB ports, a mini HDMI port, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G support. Its battery provides around 4 hours of operation time. What makes this tablet PC unique is that it uses no external power source to recharge its battery. Kobo today announced the launch of the all-new Kobo eReader Touch Edition. The gadget adopts the latest Pearl E Ink technology and the Neonode zForce infrared touch technology to make reading on Kobo just like that of reading a real book. It is also able to store up to 30,000 books with an expandable memory. The new Kobo eReader Touch Edition will be available for pre-order at leading retailers across North America including Indigo, Best Buy, Walmart and Borders for an MSRP of $129.99. Perceptive Pixel has recently released a new multitouch display, which is touted as the world’s first professional multitouch desktop display. The display features a 27-inch diagonal IPS (in-plane switching) LED-backlit LCD panel, an impressive 2560 x 1440 resolution for the richest graphics, a 400cd/m2 brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 6.5ms response time and a 178°/178° viewing angle. Fujitsu is ready to launch a new Intel Atom-powered touchscreen tablet in Japan. The Fujitsu TH40D tablet comes jam packed with a 1.5GHz Intel Oak Trail Atom Z670 CPU, a slide-out keyboard, a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) multitouch display, a 2GB of RAM, a 120GB 4200RPM hard disk drive, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi. Measuring 17.4mm thick and weighing at only 1.1 Kg, the Fujitsu TH40D will be available in Japan at the end of June 2011. No word on pricing at this moment. [Akihabara]

Pioneer today introduced its new WWS-DT101 52-inch multitouch table in Japan. The device is based on a 52-inch Full HDTV with the multitouch technology, allowing you to manipulate documents with your finger. The Pioneer WWS-DT101 also adopts the TransferJet technology. It is a close-proximity wireless transfer technology, which allows data to be transferred at speeds of up to 560Mbps simply by touching the transmitting device directly to the receiving device. What’s more, the WWS-DT101 comes equipped with an PFU Scan Snap S1100 scanner that lets you scan any documents and display them directly on its huge display. Microsoft Germany and long-time partner Stereolize have unveiled the new 234-inch touchscreen display at the annual CeBIT Germany technology fair. Dubbed as the “Microsoft Cinema”, this PowerPoint presentation display is claimed to be the largest touch display in the world and appears to support hand gestures such as flicking, panning and tapping.
